Born In Mexico regresa con la tercera entrega de la serie ‘Tándem’, donde nos presentan el trabajo de dos leyendas de la electrónica nacional: Betoko y Balcazar. Dos figuras de la escena house y sus subgéneros que han estado vigentes durante décadas. En la parte de los remixes están dos artistas mexicanos que no necesitan presentación: métrika y Cabizbajo. 

El EP abre con la versión original de “Slow Motion” de Betoko, un corte orientado al progressive house donde la melodía principal te envuelve como una ola de satén, las percusiones te mantienen en estado de trance y la voz hace que te fundas con la atmosphera. Le sigue el remix del sinaloense, Cabizbajo a “Slow Motion”, una versión más acelerada, hipnótica, ácida y vigorosa para la pista de baile.   

La segunda parte del EP viene a cargo del tapatío Balcazar. “PH” es un corte de house orgánico mezclado con una batería sólida, atmósferas paradisíacas, sintetizadores agitados y una melodía cautivadora. A continuación tenemos el remix de métrika a “PH”, un corte más sólido y profundo pero sin perder el carácter celestial de la versión original.  

Para cerrar el lanzamiento Betoko incluyó una versión instrumental de “Slow Motion”. A partir del 15 de abril podrás encontrar ‘Tándem 003’ en plataformas digitales. Otros artistas que han participado dentro de la serie ‘Tándem’ son Ramón Amezcua, Pepe Mogt, Zombies In Miami, Kalexis, Mystery Affair, por mencionar algunos.

Cementing their 25th release, Cologne-based record label Minimood gear up to issue the 7-track ‘Aeon’ EP from Vienna-based producer Tobias Oliver. In keeping with the occasion, the cover illustrates Tillman Lauterbach's plate printing techniques on terrestrial limestones...Contributors include Bureau B's regular Die Wilde Jagd, AU Cheek, Berlin-based producer Ray Okpara, JS, Kompakt's Anton Kubikov and Bluetrain. Our pick is Anton Kubikov's remix – a streamlined piece of dub techno ornamented with acid-infused bass and sluggish yet almost human-like modulation unsettling the atmosphere presided over by ultra-filtered kick drums. In a matter of seconds, Kubikov quietly pierces the unconscious mind with a dimly echoed pendulum of disembodied lethargy.

Partial PR: The 47th release on microcastle welcomes Third Son to the label for his debut EP. As one of electronic music's most creative talents Joseph Thomas Price aka Third Son has carved out a unique sound all his own. The UK artist has shaped his sonic palette with a variety of influence's and compositional studies which began at a young age. The underground has fallen in love with Joseph's contemporary vision, which resonates through his tough beats, rugged grooves, modern melodies and heavy percussion. It's a sound that's led him to releases on Einmusika, Noir, Sincopat, Selador, Stil Vor Talent and Suara. Now making his long awaited microcastle debut Third Son presents his much anticipated 'Climb to the Sun' EP alongside remixes from Darlyn Vlys.

The lone interpretation of 'Climb to the Sun' is provided by Darlyn Vlys who is also making his label debut. The French artist's unique take on house and techno has touched the hearts and minds of electronic music lovers around the world. It's no surprise that Darlyn's character rich sound has been showcased on Get Physical,  Noir, OFF Recordings, Sincopat and Upon.You Records.  His creative vision and stunning design is highly regarded amongst his contemporaries and has once again worked wonders here on 'Climb to the Sun', taking the piece in a dreamier more melodic direction with a gorgeous end of night vibe; as Darlyn describes "I loved that as my debut on microcastle I got to work with Third Son and Haptic, who are two of my favourite producers. The first time I heard the original track I immediately fell in love with the style of the vocal and the way it meshed perfectly with the dark mood of the main theme. As work progressed I explored many different synthesis options, ultimately choosing to preserve the bass line of the original. Over this I jammed layers from my new little baby the "JU-06", which brings that epic, analogue feel, and then I tied them all together with the Diva Plugin. During this process I actually think I was channelling a little bit from that intense vibe of the first M83 album." For the less vocally inclined Darlyn has also provided a dub version.

A strong collaborative production partnership, Matty Doyle and Jerram Adams have garnered considerable notoriety under their Matter and Universal Harmonics monikers. Now the Australian duo return to Particles with "Re Entry", including remixes from Hungarian and Mexican stars.

Impressive artists in their own rights, Matter and Universal Harmonics have collaborated on a clutch of releases for the likes of PHW Elements, Mistique Music and JOOF, with impressive results. A long-term friend of Proton Music and Particles, Matter's own rise to stardom in the underground dance firmament has been particularly noteworthy with a host of original and remix production material. Following up on his work with Universal Harmonics after their rerub of "We Are Dust" in May 2018, the duo now debuts on Particles. "Re Entry" is thus a typically dynamic track. With its cavernous beat and warm, pulsating bassline, Matter and Universal Harmonics have created a textured framework for a glorious chord progression to develop as it washes over the listener in trademark fashion. Building effortlessly from a luscious breakdown, the track erupts into a pulsating floor-filler that excites with grooved stabs and growling, open-filtered bass. The result is a magical experience.

Hungarian artist, East Café, is no stranger to the progressive scene. A stalwart with a sound that helped define the progressive breaks genre, his work has been a staple on some of the industry's finest imprints for over a decade and more than 500 production credits to his name. A Particles regular with the "Indian Summer" and "False Visions" EPs, East Café now returns after a successful remix of Matan Caspi in December 2017. He thus takes "Re Entry" on a bright new path with pounding beat and off-beat percussion to provide a driving dancefloor framework. Making clever use of Matter and Universal Harmonic's original components as a starting point, rich new motifs flow across the track with ease, highlighting the Hungarian's own production skill. White-noise washes and a soaring breakdown add further depth and intrigue in a remix that rises and falls to create a stunning new interpretation.

An artist at the peak of his powers, Hot TuneiK's star has risen rapidly with his DJ performances, production work and stewardship of Hookah Records. Making his full EP debut on Proton Music in April 2018 with "Revival", the "Erase and Rewind" and "Tulum" EPs for Particles in October 2017 and May 2018, showcased the Mexican's supreme talents. Remixing Matter and Universal Harmonics, an elaborate groove, sculpted from hats, shakers and toms, sit tightly against a strong beat. Using the chord progressions and motif from the original, the Hot TuneiK remix builds hypnotically with bouncing bassline and flowing pads crafting a languorous offering that is an innovative new interpretation full of passion and guile.

As Matter and Universal Harmonics take-off "Re Entry" is provide by remixes from East Café and Hot TuneiK.

Finnish DJ and producer Otto Yliperttula (aka Yotto) caught our imaginations alight with his stellar debut album ‘Hyperfall’ last September, charting as a No. 1 Dance/Electronic album on Billboard and earning support from Annie Mac, Pete Tong, Danny Howard, Eric Prydz, and many other heavyweights in the dance world. The next chapter sees an acclaimed host of producers add their own sound to the ‘Hyperfall’ story.

‘Hear Me Out’ receives separate remixes from Mobilee Records head Anja Schneider and Berlin producer Kevin de Vries to open proceedings. Schneider incorporates the sublime vocals of Laudic to full effect over a driving bass groove, whilst De Vries’s adapts the original’s bright melodies to his characteristic techno style.

German artists Monkey Safari and Ruede Hagelstein build on Yotto’s original brooding arrangement for ‘Turn It Around’ in contrasting fashions; Monkey Safari adding a trademark sunshine sheen of bubbly arpeggios, while Ruede Hagelstein’s ‘Rise Again’ remix places mechanised vocoders atop a menacing bassline.

‘Kantsu’ receives a minimal reinterpretation from Parisian electro artist Chloé, while SØNIN captures the understated euphoria of ‘The One You Left Behind’ through an inventive club re-work.
