RIP and TEAR: Godhood

The Second Hour played at HYPERDIRTY on 22-Sep-2023 (minus one small change on the night...) - The inaugural HYPERDIRTY and my first time out and about in a 'real' setting (as opposed to Your Shot or Open Deck Nights with the DJ Social Club)!

This was a great exercise in mixing outside of my comfort zone - hyperpop and hyper-styled music is very fast and difficult to mix!

Options available in the second hour:
Get NASTY: A hard spanking play enabling set, vicious smacking within.
BANG HEADS: What it says on the tin. Fast, headbanging, pound the floor stuff.

Due to a tied vote I chose to go Get NASTY because frankly I like spanking music - but threw the last song from BANG HEADS in at the very end (not played in this recording).

My first original production as Matt Frequencies - I got tired of making excuses for not making music, so I challenged myself to sit down and write a short song in one day so I finally learned to 'complete' a track in Reason.

This could be easily extended by repeating the main section with a second bigger buildup and adding more detail, but I ran out of time in my challenge - maybe I'll come back to this!

Things I'd like to add:
- hi hat line to bring some upper energy
- tense melody line in a second half extension
- better drop

I dropped this a while back but have since completely redone the bassline and drums to be club suitable. Took a fair bit of work, also restructured the song to match an actual DnB layout so it can be mixed (favourite pairing: Sub Focus - Rock It).
