Back in the early 60's the Motown Sound was born out of the city of Detroit. Enjoy this latest podcast from Pirate Radio "The Motown Sound" . Including some of the greatest music of all time. Also the classic jingles from the motor city's most popular radio station CKLW The Big 8.

The BEST decade of music in my opinion! This is Pt.1 of a 3 part series of the music of the 60's. Pt.1 will take you from 1960-1963.
Pt.2 will be 1964-1966, and finally Pt.3 will go from 1967-1969. You don't want to miss this! As always the jingles,yes the jingles I used in Pt.1 were from WABQ 1540 "Tiger Radio"in Cleveland,Ohio. I always use jingles from the era to enhance the sound of listening to the radio. But no talking,  I have done plenty of radio programs and besides who wants to hear me talk! It is all about the music.

The 60's Pt.1

The sound of the 60's continue from 1964-1966. This part includes The British Invasion. There are plenty of British artists in this podcast as well as the Americans as well. The Top 40 charts were well stocked with music from "across the pond". There is a eclectic mix of tunes here to enjoy. And of course "The Jingles" probably the most popular radio station in Cleveland in the 60's was of course WIXY-1260, a top 40 blowtorch at the time.

A compilation of music through the The Beatles career from 1963-1996. Played in somewhat chronological order and mixed with original "RARE" outtakes from the Rubber Soul recording sessions. you will hear different versions of songs for the Rubber Soul album and some didn't make the album. Chicago,the latest podcast from WCOL. This podcast covers the years from 1970-1985. Lead guitarist and singer Terry Kath died from a accidental gun shot on 1/23/78. This left singing duties to Robert Lamm and Peter Cetera. Kath is probably one of the most underrated guitar players in the rock era.  All the hits are here and some you haven't heard in a while. The year 1985 is significant because this is the year Peter Cetera left the group for a solo career. Drummer Danny Seraphine left the band in 1989. The only original members are John Panknow,Lee Loughnane and Walt Parazaider.  There is one song just before the 1hr. mark called "Will you still love me"? This song confirms that the original sound is dead, this song was recorded in 1986 after Cetera's departure. You be the judge!

Eric Hilliard Nelson May 8, 1940- Dec.31, 1985. One of the top "teen idols" of the 1950's. Nelson put 53 singles in Billboards Hot 100 between 1957-1973. He also recorded an additional 19 Top 10 hits and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on January 21, 1987.Enjoy another trip back to the 50's from Pirate Radio.
