My good friend Geordy Carson booked me to play Live at Fozzy Fest in 2012 as Elite Force. It was a heavy weekend that involved shows in Denver, Philadelphia and in the Kananaskis mountains, two hours outside of Calgary ... not to mention two transatlantic flights and 72-hours of sleep deprivation!

Fozzy Fest was epic. Set in incredible mountain surroundings, it was like a small-scale version of Shambhala, built with love and forged through community. This high-quality recording of the event suddenly materialized through the ether in 2021 ... and it's really not bad at all! 

This was an interesting time for music - this set is a journey through multiple genres and is very much about sustaining a real sense of peak-time energy.

Many of the photographers have their idents on the photos I used to piece this tribute to FozzyFest together. Their work is inspiring and exceptional, so please check them out via the FozzyFest Facebook page.

I’m excited to be back and refreshed after spending a large chunk of the summer in the US on a much-needed family vacation. Since I got back I’ve been listening to thousands of tracks and promos, cleaning up my DJ library, and becoming enthused about the wealth of good music that’s out there at the moment (although you have to dig pretty hard to find it!).

It’s been three years since I last created an Elite Force DJ mix. While my focus has recently turned to my Simon Shackleton output, there’s been a nagging desire to create something a little tougher from some of the great breakbeat and techno that’s being made at the moment.

This new mix showcases the sound I hear in my head when I think about a beautiful hybrid of breakbeat, techno and electro. It's also representative of the kind of Elite Force sets you'll hear from me in the live arena, as I return to the fray in 2023 after a four-year absence!

To craft a mix that had the exact feel I was looking for, I used 24 tracks in some shape or form, pulling many of them apart, rearranging them and adding liberal ly from my own extensive sample library. This set includes 11 Elite Force VIP edits, several acapellas / acidapellas and lashings of breakbeat-techno-electro love.

An incredible day was had by all in Budapest in late May on the Cruisin / Be Massive 20th Anniversary Boat Party on the Danube. 

My great friend (and amazing DJ/Producer) Metha invited me to celebrate Be Massive's anniversary and the brief was ... 'please play some classics from across the years as well as some new stuff - and we'd love to hear a little Zodiac Cartel too'.

Budapest 2023 - Be Massive 20 Party

This two-hour mix was inspired by my many visits to Black Rock Desert and is a twisty cross-genre journey designed to encapsulate the spirit of my One Series sets (without the 7-hour commitment!).

August 2023 Mixtape

This is my set from the Beats 4 Love Festival which took place at Dolní Vítkovice in Ostrava, Czech Republic, in the summer of 2023.

Since I returned to the fray in 2023, I've been using Ableton and a number of controllers to create my sets and am loving the flexibility it gives me to do deeper dives into edits, overdubs, mashups and mixes. It wasn't uncommon during this set to have four or five audio channels running simultaneously. I hope you enjoy the ride!

Beats For Love Festival 2023

A RE:CONSTRUCTED set is a *long* way removed from a standard DJ set. Here's how it works.

Simon takes hundreds of tracks from his huge library, painstakingly deconstructs them (using Ai if needed to separate elements from the original tracks), and then pieces everything back together to create a hugely emotive and immersive musical story.

He uses Ableton Live and multiple controllers to trigger up to 16 individual channels of audio at any one time during the performance, and also performs live keyboard overdubs. The end result is a hugely addictive, compulsive and compelling blend of music that's often new, often familiar but always utterly unique.

This is storytelling on a giant canvas, and in 2024 we will be adding visuals and further live instrumentation to these RE:CONSTRUCTED sets.

Another stunning night at Publicworks on the back of *that* election result. I deliberately kept things upbeat and optimistic, which made for one of THE most fun sets I've ever played.

A HUGE heartfelt thank you to every single one of you that came down, felt and shared the love and made this One Series *such* a massive high.

The One Series [MAN021] - Simon Shackleton - Joshua Brooks, Manchester

This was the final One Series show in a 5-year run of events that began at Cellspace in San Francisco back in 2012. 

These sets gave me a much-needed chance to breathe and to branch out from the peaktime headline shows I'd been playing for many years. They allowed me time to spread my wings musically and explore different tempos and different flavours and tell a story from cover to cover. They inspired me and kept me going at a time when I was deeply disillusioned by electronic music's move into the bubblegum candy-pop of the supersized McRave. 

I believe that music has the power to affect people deeply and that it can be felt on a spiritual level, and during these sets I always felt that connection profoundly. I'm proud of what I achieved with them and that a beautiful legacy remains.

This particular set had to be reconstructed from 2/3rds of the way through as the recorder malfunctioned, but I didn't want to leave the Final One unarchived, so here it is in all of it's 6-hours of glory.

With the world in partial lockdown, this 1-hour LIVE set was specially curated and performed in June 2020 to celebrate Glastonbury 2020 for my friends at the legendary GLADE stage.

I used 8 Ableton decks, 6 channels of live keyboard overdubs, an APC40, Launchkey 61 and 4 full days of my time to lovingly piece this one together.
