Cool track I remixed for the Rate my Mix contest. Band originally recorded this in the 90's on tape, featuring Frank Mullen on backing vocals. Really vibey. My goal was to retain the rawness while updating it a little to make it slam.

STANDALONE COMPLEX "The Deceiver" MATTMIXX

Totally natural drums, possible due to the great drumming and engineering by Jordan Valeriote (also a lot of automation). Done with only the bx SSL E Channel plugin with the corresponding buss compressor, excluding effects and the mastering chain.

CROSSLEY HUNTER "DIALATORY" MATTMIXX

Stepped out of my comfort zone by messing with plugins I had not really used before. Made for an interesting mix. SOME samples on the kick and snare are from Slate Trigger (running live, a first and possibly last for me). This song is extremely catchy.

BURST AND BLOOM "WE AGREE" MATTMIXX

This was a lot of fun. Mix was done with JW bus glue series from JST as the ONLY plugin on every bus (mix buss included). Result is a very fast and easy mix. Samples are all Daniel Bergstrand one-shots from Drumforge (except the kick which Jordan provided with the stems). Yes, I'm repping the JST guys hard.

INTAKE OF GLASS "ACOLYTE" MATTMIXX

I had done this track a while ago but found my initial mix to be really washed out and...well frankly bad. Decided to go for a more natural approach with this guy while keeping Brian's original mix and master in mind. Think it came out pretty damn good! Band broke up before the release, so Brian decided to label this Dungblaster lol.

So this guy took a lot of love, but in the end it was worth it. I had attempted this guy and started over so many times that I figured "screw it, lets try one last time guns blazing". Managed to make life more difficult for myself by trying out a number of new techniques as well. And so here it is.

PLAYMRA "MAGNA CARTA" MATTMIXX

Fun way to come back into the game. This song took a number of tries to get the right blend of "natural" and "modern", but I think it came out pretty well. Working with Synthcore stuff is awesome!

Quick little addition to my portfolio: if you want a test mix from me this is what you end up getting(unless you feel like paying for the test mix :D).  Absolute pleasure to mix Alex Rudinger and to work on a track that Eyal Levi recorded at Audio Hammer Studios. Really proud of the drums on this one.
