Israeli producer Yotam Avni is back with a fresh cut of uplifting, inspirational dance-floor music, along the same lines as some of the killer cuts he's produced for the likes of Robsoul, Be As One and Osunlade's Yoruba records imprint. Weaving elements of Detroit techno, jacking Chicago house and deep atmospheres, Yotam Avni's productions - either under his own name or pseudonyms - Avadon and Jersey Real Estate - are guaranteed to keep the midnight oil burning, no matter the crowd. It's with this reputation that Ovum Recordings welcomes the passionate producer to it's ever-swelling ranks.

Yotam's debut for Ovum Recordings is of the same quality and ilk that weve come to expect. The title track's original mix is proud and uptight, bursting in with a clipped but swollen kick drum, fat around the edges and deep in it's descent, before a vocal snippet chimes in through a mesh of bass gradually stomping its way into earshot with a gentle canter before those bass tones become a full on wobble and the driving rhythm to the track is notched up on the break, mixing Yotam's trademark uplifting house with galvanized, toughened techno beats. 

On the remix we welcome the Dutch bastion of techno Mr. Steve Rachmad, who delivers a superb rework under his darker and deeper Sterac alias. Jacking, rolling and pumping, his remix focuses on the filters. Dry flanges, acid stabs and filtered analogue synths sit atop a frenetic hi hat for a bass-less but high impact smasher. 

Closing the EP is the intriguingly titled Bbbooy Skat, that runs with a hypnotic, wavering acid synth lines and muted, clipped kick drums - reminiscent of his live looping techniques when Djing - before igniting into progressively building techno roller, adding elements of percussion atmosphere and melody, never once shifting focus from that hypno-top line. A subdued but effective midnight roller that offers an endless conclusion to another triumphant set from the Ovum Recordings crew.

When you think of electronic labels that curate the modern scene there are a few poignant names that always stand tall. When you think of Get Physical, Global Underground, Moda Black, Viva and Noir Music you immediately conjure up artists known across the world. Enter Habischman, an Iranian producer that has appeared on all of the above and is fast making his name as a major artist to watch.

Industry giants Pete Tong, Dubfire, Tale of Us, Nicole Moudaber and John Digweed are amongst Habischman’s ardent supporters, recognizing his accomplished and unique sound; with his tapestry of tones on regular rotation on BBC Radio 1, In The Mood and Transitions Radio, shows to name only a few.

Since cutting his teeth at the Red Bull Music Academy in 2008, studying alongside the likes of Jamie Woon and Septa, Habischman fast developed a considerable standing amongst his peers, with a succinct choice in sound and dominant drive to succeed. His talent has been compared to electricity, instantly igniting clubs, shining above the collective halo of many of clublands long-term steadfast figures. Fast forward to 2016, taking to the booth at London’s legendary Ministry Of Sound alongside Dave Seaman, stamped a lasting impression on both Habischman and the capitals seasoned clubbers and immediately spring-boarded him further onto the international circuit, setting up camp in Berlin where he honed his studio skills and played all the notable underground clubs . This isn’t about popularity in a commercial sense, but all about the music, and that as they say, is the perfect vehicle for the hype that’s not only well deserved, but one that makes an ongoing impact upon the industry long term.

Exclusive Guest Mix: Habischman

Jair was born in Bogota, Colombia but moved to the Netherlands as a little kid. Jair discovered the art of music at a very young age due to his father who played several instruments. Because of that, music always played a big role in his life. It was no surprise that at the age of 20 Jair discovered that you can not only listen to music but you can also play music as a DJ. A new love was born and Jair started to work on his DJ skills. Years later his DJ alias was born, Lake Avalon. Since then Lake Avalon has played in Holland gigs at festivals like DGTL & Dance Valley, for organisations like DGTL, Pleinvrees, Click and in clubs like Westerunie, Escape, Mazzo, Barkode, Chicago Social Club and Undercurrent. Very quick his profile started to grow and that took his career to another level, playing around Europe on a regular basis. He is also co-founder of Click Records, a record label from Amsterdam.
Soon after he got more and more into the world of DJ-ing he found another love, making music. He discovered that making your own music could bring a whole new dimension into his aspiring career as a DJ. After years of developing his producing skills he was ready to share his music with the world. Since then, as a producer, he has released tracks on some of the world’s top record labels including Stil Vor Talent, Jeudi Records, Einmusika, Parquet, Toolroom, Katermukke, Click Records, Kraftek, Electronique, Kittball, Armada and many more.
