New year, new 90’s South Africa mix with a focus on the 93-96 era. Previous years I’ve released a Kwaito mix on @ctw-podcasts  & @averagerecordsbln . This year I release it on my own page under the project name ‘Jam City’ which draws inspiration, both in name & artwork, from the original Kwaito project releases like Dance City, Ripp City, Dancemaster and so on. This one features the Kwaito DJ Tools, vocal sample tunes, Shangaan Disco, Import Mixes, Bubblegum stars turned Kwaito and the more out of the box renditions from the early and best era. All released on my favorite labels, produced by my favorite producers and featured on my favorite projects. Lots of recent uploads of mine, future uploads that will eventually find their way to my channel and uploads by fellow diggers whom I highly regard.

New Kwaito, G'qom (Durban House Music), AmaPiano, and a third '90s Shangaan Disco (Shangaan Kwaito) Mix!

It's been a while since we've done a '90s Shangaan Disco Mix in about 5 years (second season)! Shangaan Disco began during the 1980s as Township Pop Music (often referred to as SA Bubblegum or SA Disco music) in the XiTsonga language by Artists such as Obed Ngobeni, Paul Ndlovu, Thomas Chauke and the Shinyori Sisters, and others, though during the 1990s, the genre started to change more into a Kwaito sound with artists such as Penny Penny, Joe Shirimani, Esta M, Tsoko-Tsoko, and Mozambique's General Muzka.

Despite the change in sound, the name Shangaan Disco stuck as some would say that it was due to the discrimination that Tsonga (also known as Shangaan) Artists faced in the Music Industry or that the Artists themselves wanted to maintain their cultural identity in the music. 

Enjoy the Kwaito influenced sound of '90s Shangaan Disco as I like to refer to it as Shangaan Kwaito!!
