Disquiet Junto Project 0600: Reaching Out
The Assignment: This is a shared sample project. Rework a set of seven WAV files provided by Marcus Fischer.

Long time lurker, first time participant.  Partially motivated to put my new SP404 mk2 to use while simultaneously having just enough free time to participate.  Chopped samples from "Hands Held," "PSU Stairs," and "Street Poet Typing".  With the requirement to use 2 seconds of an unaltered segment, I used some percussion to set the tempo and built up a cacophony of percussion to ultimately bring back down to the original sample.

The Assignment: This is a shared sample project. Rework a set of seven WAV files provided by Marcus Fischer.

Loaded everything into a sampler and started playing around with slices and layers until things started to form.  Set it up so I could mix and tweak each sample live and then hit record.  I ended up using the following samples in the final track: worn_path, psu_stairs, walking, and nacre_voit,  No other sound sources added.  Recorded directly to a stereo file with no post processing.

The Die is Cast (disquiet0601)

[disquiet0601] No Dice

This is an experimental track based on the soundscape https://soundcloud.com/rabmusiclab/aankomst-amsterdam-zuid. 
In this original track a field-recording from an IC-train has been used as base and was transformed to a special soundscape.
Following the Disquiet Junto Project 0601 (details see below) six short sections were cut out of this source and rearranged to a new track, the number of overall repetitions of the different sections determined by throwing a dice.

Travel Hallucinations (Disquiet0601)

For Disquiet Junto 601, I threw a die in my bathtub and recorded the throws with an AT822 stereo microphone (through a Zoom H5) that I bought (used) years ago but had never used (I’m not really much of a microphone person).
Then, using Csound, I placed copies of each recording across about 3.5 minutes, with various densities, filtering, playback speeds and amplitudes.
The rolls determined for how much of the piece each recording appears: the rolls were 3,5,6,5,6,3, so the 6 rolls appear throughout, the 5’s appear up to 5/6 of the piece and the 3’s cut off at the half-way point.
