Drawing on flavours from Rock, Folk, Reggae, Pop with a strong leaning towards African rhythms. The sound is international, yet truly South African.

Matthew Rice is a singer, songwriter, poet, live-looper, musician, inventor and guitar maker from Cape Town South Africa
He collaborates closely with two of Cape towns most extraordinary musicians. 
Maxim Starcke, Bass/Soprano Saxophone/Sampling/Sound design/Composition/Guitars and Ronan Skillen. Tabla/ Hybrid Percussion Kit/Didgeridoos. 
With their help he creates a sound at once emotive, yet capable of high energy ballistic groove.
Matthew Rice's New EP due for release by the end of September this year, features 4 tracks that are firmly rooted in the worlds of Folk and Rock. The sound is subtle, emotive and expansive, building up high energy and powerful grooves. The new EP points with renewed focus and energy towards a cohesive vision.“My aim is to create an atmosphere of unity, excitement and emotive force through my music, to break down the barriers that separate genres and people."
