The DJ/Producer brings avant garde electronic music to labels like Themes For Great Cities and Versatile. Aquarian and Deapmash debut on Bedouin records with their first collaborative EP, "Aegis" as "AQXDM"

Despite living on two separate continents and having never met in person, they bonded over a love for breakbeat techno, grime, jungle, breakcore, and immediately wrote their first EP.

A l'occasion de la sortie de leur nouvel album "On", Radio Phénix, la Campus de Caen, a enregistré le concert d'Altin Gün  lors du Palma Festival. https://phenix.fm 

Repéré lors des dernières Transmusicales, le groupe Altin Gün à résonance orientale et complètement psyché, nous a avait emballé sur scène. Guidé par ses deux co-fondateurs hollandais et soutenu par le pointilleux label genevois Bongo Joe Records, le groupe vient de sortir un 1er album maîtrisé de bout en bout, sobrement intitulé "On". 

C'est lorsque que le bassiste hollandais Jasper Verhulst assiste à un concert rock psychédélique d'Istanbul avec Jacco Gardner, qu'il est hypnotisé par cette scène alternative des années 60-70, mêlant le psychédélisme occidentale à la musique traditionnelle turque. Il veut alors faire revivre les sonorités de cette scène en s'inspirant des plus grands noms de cette époque tels que Selda Bagčan, Barış Manço, Erkin Koray ou encore Neşet Ertaş. Il décide de former un groupe, avec six autres membres et de former Altin Gün  (« Age d’or »).

Jasper Verhulst choisit comme membre le guitariste de Jacco Gardner : Ben Rider, et le batteur Nic Mauskovic. Il recrute également deux autres membres notamment la chanteuse Merve Dasdemir et le chanteur et joueur de saz (un luth oriental ) Erdinc Yildiz Ecevit. Les cinq sont ensuite rejoints par le percussionniste de Jungle By Night, Gino Groeneveld.

Les chansons abordent des thèmes universels, l'amour, la mort, le désir et le destin. C'est une musique émouvante qui à la fois donne envie de danser et réconforte l'âme. Une musique qui, même sans comprendre le turc, nous touche.

Aquarian - The Snake That Eats Itself

Canadian born, Berlin based producer @Aquarian makes his full length album debut The Snake That Eats Itself on Bedouin Records. This record follows his collaborative EPs with Deapmash as 'AQXDM" and is his first solo release since his 2016 experimental mixtape for Quiet Time.

Nearly five years in the making,The Snake That Eats Itself is Aquarian's most complex, diverse and emotive work to date, plunging his trademark UK sound-system / techno hybrids into a self-contained, cinematic universe streaked with heavy influences from industrial, IDM, drone and dark pop music. Written in Brooklyn, New York, in a deeply transitional, yet seemingly endless period preceding his relocation to Berlin,the title of the album refers to the Ouroboros, a mythological serpent symbolizing the cycle of birth and death and infinity itself.

The Snake That Eats Itself pits Aquarian's most abrasive and brutal moments next to his most wistful and introspective. Viscerally thick layers of tape saturation envelop the album as sludgy synths ooze against brittle atmospheres; breakbeats fragment, explode and disintegrate into swarms of delay and noise; scorched, metallic percussion - sampled from a year-long demolition and construction project next to his apartment - forge the rhythmic backbone of the album. These elements, however, seamlessly make way to startlingly crystalline and shimmering ambient passages, offering a sense of reprieve and balance.

An enterprising spirit that rose to prominence through the world of experimental club music, Air Max '97 has streamlined his sound and renewed his focus the last few years. Part-in-hand to the time he's put into the curation of his label DECISIONS, the release of his debut album Nacre last year also proved a pivotal achievement in terms of distilling his new ideas into something succinct and impactful. With Batu recently tapping him up for a 12" on Timedance, he seems to have found a perfect stride working within the realms of functionality, groove and  sound design. We caught up with Oli to discuss the geographic immersion of his debut LP, his collaborative productions with AYA, the output and experience of running his own label, and his pop-sensibilities from working on music with Don Sinini. His Truancy Volume, which he describes as being a faithful representation of his current club sets, uses DECISIONS material as the core foundation of the tracklist. Shifting tempos, rhythmic patterns and thick textures into an hour long mix, it's a mind-bending trip shelling through all sorts of club flavours. Take note of the Tink edit near the beginning and a throwback gem courtesy of MMM.
