At the beginning of February, we told you about the forthcoming full-length album by the sci-fi-lovin' bedroom producer known as Com Truise, called Galactic Melt. Still a ways off from seeing that record, we're going to be treated to the three-song Fairlight EP on May 3, courtesy of releasing label Ghostly. None of those homegrown, electro-tinged tunes come from Truise's aforementioned debut LP, and yet they do trick of tiding us over until it arrives. Take the hyper-compressed "Polyhurt," where '80s-inspired sonic motifs are infused with fresh compositional ideas and a reinvigorated soul, one that emanates as much heartache as neon glow. It'll certainly be enough to satiate our nostalgic urges until Com Truise unveils Galactic Melt on July 5.

Supernaive are two brothers from Paris, France, merging electronic and acoustic music in a delicate and unique manner. Bloggers, critics and music fans praise them as a fresh and creative band, composing with colors and emotions, in a Japanese pop culture-like fashion, which the Supernaive brothers refer to as a major influence. Their new “Dazed & Confused” EP makes on one hand reference to a magazine with covers which evokes sophisticated – but sometimes disillusioned – portraits. And on the other hand, to Richard Linklater’s movie of 1993, which shows us the last day of some fairly lost high school students at the beginning of summer 76. “With this EP, we wanted to speak about adolescence, sex, girls, and the passage to adulthood”.

Depending on whom you ask, Matthew Dear is a DJ, a dance-music producer, an experimental pop artist, a bandleader. He was the founding artist on both Ghostly International and its dancefloor offshoot, Spectral Sound. He’s had remixes commissioned by The XX, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Spoon, Hot Chip, The Postal Service, and Chemical Brothers; he’s made mixes for the Fabric mix series and Get Physical’s Body Language. He maintains four aliases (Audion, False, Jabberjaw, and Matthew Dear), each with its own style and distinct visual identity. He straddles multiple musical worlds and belongs to none—and he’s just hitting his stride.
