Matthew Dear's Audion alias has always channelled a weird and wonderful sound, one that blurs the line between electro and techno by using abrasive tones and alien gurgles. We've taken great joy over the years seeing what this side-project has given birth to and no track is more seminal than 'Mouth To Mouth'.

The 12-minute epic took over clubs worldwide and became an instant classic. Now fans of the cut can collectively jump for joy as 'Mouth To Mouth 10' is set to drop and it's one of the best-looking remix albums we've seen in ages.

Dear has called upon artists like Boys Noize, Dubfire, Dense & Pika, Guy Gerber and Jamie Jones to rework his monster classic and we've got the very first spin of the Jones' remix.

I can't quite remember where I was when I first heard this masterpiece from Matt Dear but it resonated with me instantly. And judging by how many DJs got behind it "Mouth to Mouth" was destined to become a classic. The 10 year anniversary is quite special for me not only because of how timeless and relevant the track remains, but 2006 was also the year I branched out as a solo artist. So thank you Matt for the inspiration and I hope my take on it complements the original masterpiece. - Dubfire

As well-received as Audion's debut album—the sawed-off techno of Suckfish—was back in 2005, Matthew Dear's alter ego didn't assert its dominance until the following year. That's when Richie Hawtin slipped Audion's next single (the anthem-on-arrival that is "Mouth to Mouth") into the closing set of Detroit's Electronic Music Festival, pulling the pin on the weekend's most explosive moment and leaving everyone wondering what the hell just happened. 

Which was kinda the point. Dear wrote and recorded "Mouth to Mouth" right after a two-week tour of Europe, and in many ways, its hypnotic rhythms and signature bee swarm hook—cut in real time over the course of a couple restless hours—are meant to replicate the rush he felt in many overseas clubs.

"There was a great energy being shared by a lot of artists then," explains Dear. "I remember playing the song for a few people and it was clear something special was happening, something meditative in the simple repetition and slow build of it all."

The side-long single has stood the test of time, too, enough to warrant another look along the ambitious lines of Mouth to Mouth 10. The double pack reveals how one track can take on a life of its own in the hands of eight distinct producers, keeping its core intact without being afraid to manipulate the record's overall mood. So while Riva Starr's mischievous version sounds like it could be dropped in the middle of a sweaty Horse Meat Disco set, Dubfire lurks in the shadows, waiting to strike; and Dense & Pika crank up the chaos like a pressure cooker set to self-destruct.

"I asked everyone to treat their remix like a cover," explains Dear, "letting the theme guide them rather than the parts. Everyone put a piece of themselves into it, and I'll forever be grateful to them for contributing." 

He can also breathe a sigh of relief, for Mouth to Mouth 10 marks the end of Audion's first chapter and the beginning of what's to come with his long-awaited second LP this summer.

Emerging from Detroit's vibrant DIY underground scene, Matthew Dear's Audion project has been feeding off the energy reverberating from dancefloors across the UK and Europe, but with a sound and spirit that is uniquely his own. Described as "techno in its purest sense", Audion now returns with his first album in a decade that embodies this ethos.

Forthcoming on !K7, Alpha is a collective body of work that was brought to life by Audion in a mere matter of weeks, coming at a defining moment in the artist's life. The mind bending "Destroyer" stands out in its warped, cyclical grandeur. Its distorted synth and tenacious bass provides listeners with the full bodied dancefloor flavour they have so eagerly anticipated. Now lot of people don’t like Mondays and we think thats fair enough; going back to work feeling a decade older after a heavy weekend spent making memories with friends can be a chore for even for the most optimistic of us as we trudge back in to the daily grind. Fear not this week though as our favorite type of Monday, Acid Mondays are on hand to help stave off those post weekend blues today with an exclusive mix for us here at DT.

Formed somewhere in the 5th dimension, Acid Mondays is the cosmic coalition of fellow psychonauts Negghead and Lex Wolf. Brought together by their love for fat beats, inter dimensional travel & cups of tea; they are on a never-ending journey exploring inner and outer space.

Expect altered states of hallucinogenic house and reality bending techno. It would be a cliché to say they have a great future, but they’ve been there and beyond and have returned to the NOW to do it all again. They recently put out a string of exciting releases on labels such as Warp, Rockets & Ponies, ONE Records, & Last Night On Earth. They were also asked to remix Lakker’s ‘Milch’ for the legendary R&S Records. That and their remixes of Mood 2 Swing on King Street received big support all summer from Marco Carola, Seth Troxler, The Martinez Bros, George Fitzgerald, & D’julz to name a few.
