I wrote this song for fun in order to complete a major project for my Cell Bio class.

I'm a Collection of Cells (Cell Project)

I'm a collection of cells
that help me move around
or write this song
about all of the organelles
the membrane is what keeps it wrapped
and filters it from all the bad
that wants to hurt our DNA
but lets the nutrients go passed
and once you're in you'll find yourself
floating through the cytosol
but combined with the organelles
we call their sum cytoplasm

so Let's start with what gives the orders
the nucleus so smart, so pure
it houses the nucleolus 
which keeps all of our DNA 
so densely packed and tightly wrapped
and gives Ribosomes mRNA
they need to build their protein chains
which most give to the rough Er
it helps to fold them into place
and gets to tell them what they are

it sends them off in vacuoles 
to be processed or fixed inside the Golgi body
which sorts and packages proteins
and adds to them what they might need
to send them off through the body
where they are finally complete

we're a collection of cells
made up of organelles 
there's just three left for me to sing to you about
the lysosomes help cells to keep
the cytoplasm nice and clean
by dissolving all the debris
like bacteria and proteins
the smooth Er helps synthesize
lipids and metabolize carbohydrates
and detoxifies
but how would any of this work
without the mitochondria
which uses up simple sugars
for ATP to power up the rest of us
