Lemon Cake (Original Game Soundtrack)

The Ranch of Rivershine soundtrack is my first foray into composing music influenced by both folk and country, as well as orchestral chamber music.

I started working on this OST when Eloise (the game developer) reached out to me back in 2021. While I've worked with Eloise in the past, we haven't made this large of a game or soundtrack. I've put so much work into these melodies and arrangements, and I hope that energy translates to your listening experience as well.

Music isn't just an emotional enhancer, but also a sort of postmark on where we were in life when we heard the music (or in my case created it). I hope this soundtrack can not only enhance the game for you, but also give you something to remember and latch onto years after playing. I've put my heart and soul into each piece, and I hope that it reaches you emotionally.

I'd like to give a special shoutout to Eloise. For not only allowing me to be a part of her created world, but also for all of her flexibility and creativity. Without her world and ideas, this music wouldn't exist. I wouldn't have gotten the chance to compose such an electic mix of folk music with orchestral instruments. Not only that, but she gives me almost free reign over whatever I write, and is always open to changes or experimentation. For that I am grateful.

I also want to give a huge HUGE thank you to all of the musicians who played on this soundtrack. Especially with more folk influenced music, live soloists play a huge role. I can't thank them enough for taking the time to play my music, and play it so beautifully. Thank you again.

Lastly I want to thank my girlfriend, family, and friends for all of their unwavering support. Composing music is mostly a solitary activity, but with their help I was able to power through when needed. Thank you again to all of my friends, who are always there for me when I need them. Your support means more than you can imagine, especially to some random guy from a tiny town in South Carolina USA. :)

I'd also like to say that this isn't all the music for the game! More music will be coming out. Depending on its size it will either be added to this album, or made into a 2nd volume. I will be adding the album to streaming services when all pieces are done.

This track plays in the daytime at Lupine Meadows in The Ranch of Rivershine. I really tried to capture the feeling of heading into the open fields on your first day as a rancher. With that I focused on using a more upbeat and orchestral sound, to also sort of hint at the pretty colors and environment in the meadows.This is also why you'll notice quite a bit of woodwinds in this piece too.

Hometown Livin' (The Ranch of Rivershine Original Game Soundtrack)

This track is used in World 4 in the game "Magic Adventures". With this track I focused a lot on using oboe, as well as marimba/kalimba to create these common "island" colors. I also made it a point to try and have the instruments "communicate" with each other more vs something with one main melody instrument. In the game, this track plays in the 4th overworld that transitions to being underwater, as well as in a small port city. I tried capturing both of those environments in 1 piece instead of using 2 separate themes.

This was one of my first attempts at writing a "desert" theme. I focused hard on utilizing the Oud in a realistic way (minus the microtones/etc) and trying to make sure it had its own Identity that wasn't TOO cliche. I really do like the main Oud melody as well as the background claps that use some polyrhythms.

Desert Bazaar (Magic Adventures Original Game Soundtrack)

Meant to invoke the pre-planning phase of an SRPG, this piece utilizes a lot of hocketing percussion, and a more dark/tense harmonic pallet. This is probably the most "background" like pieces in these collections of pieces, but it was still very fun to create!

Tactical JRPG Music - Title Theme

This is a track composed to represent music that would accompany a video game player hiking through a forest in order to get to a beautiful place. The beginning strings and odd piano melody represent the thickness and mysterious nature of the forest. While the flute represents a clearing showing a beautiful lake inhabited by beautiful wildlife unlike any seen anywhere else. 
The return of the piano at then end symbolizes the end of the journey. It is time to move on from the mysterious forest. 

I hope you enjoy this work! I was heavily inspired by the soundtrack to Oblivion by Jeremy Soule. Let me know what you think!

This is my remake of FFX'x battle theme. This is a game I absolutely love. I did everything on the original PS2 version, as well as got the Platinum trophy on the PS3 version. I just wanted to redo the battle theme for fun because I love it so much!

This is the main title theme for the game "Clang of Steel!". 

Without spoiling too much of the game here's what certain elements of the music represent. 

-The piano melody represents the protagonist's journey to find his beloved. 

-The delayed anvil represents the importance of steel in the game (no spoilers!). 

-The odd synth popping in and out represents the elements fire in the distance.

Maggie's Theme

Just a quick track I wrote to experiment with FMOD. The transition tracks are missing here, but you can hear how it transitions from each section for the most part. The overall idea here is:

1. Ambience Loop
2. Battle Loop
3. Ending Trigger

In FMOD its integrated with specific transitions you don't get to hear here. There are also some vertical re-sequencing parts you would hear when implemented in the game.
