Welcome to our new song and our interpretation / cover and tribute too The Beatles, “Free as a Bird”

History of “Free as a Bird”:

"Free as a Bird" was originally recorded by John Lennon in 1977, and although Lennon had died in 1980, the three remaining Beatles agreed they would pretend that Lennon had "gone for lunch", or had gone for a "cup of tea" The remaining Beatles, overdubs and production were done between February and March 1994, and they recorded a track around Lennon's basic song idea, but which had gaps they had to fill in musically.  Some chords were changed, and the arrangement was expanded to include breaks for McCartney and Harrison to sing extra lines. Harrison played slide guitar in the solo, and Jeff Lynne was asked to produce the song. 

The original tape of Lennon singing the song was recorded on a mono cassette, with vocals and piano on the same track, They were impossible to separate, so Jeff Lynne had to produce the track with voice and piano together, but commented that it was good for the integrity of the project, as Lennon was not only singing occasional lines, but also playing on the song.

Although the song received the 1997 Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal, it was very much criticised, not be a genuine Beatles song, it was seen as a publicity gimmick, exploiting the Beatles brand, and owing less to the Beatles than to Lynne.
The song reached the top 10 almost everywhere, but did not reach the number 1 position anywhere.

The Euphoriqa Production:

Matt Baker and John Styles recorded an instrumental version between June and August 2013, but it ended up on the shelf because we didn’t have the proper guitars and vocals for it.
June 2016 Hemmo Riihelä and John Styles picked up this instrumental version and continued to recording the missing Guitars and all the vocals, and adjusted the Bass, Piano’s, Synth and Strings and added some extra instruments to create the proper harmonies that would fit the lead and backing vocals.
Although we’ve given this song our own signature (especially at the encore) we’ve listened to Jeff Lynne’s way of producing this song many times, to stay as close as possible as he intended the song to be.
It took us more then a month sending tracks back and forth to complete this song the way we wanted both to sound like, especially the harmonies between the vocals and instruments gave us a lot of headaches and work to get it all done properly, but we hope we finally accomplished that anyway.
