Italian white label imprint Outlaw returns this February with a new VA featuring Dot & Matthew Oh, Nicolas Barnes, Modernism and Ian Oskadev.
Since 2015 the hand stamped white label imprint out of the Umbria region of Italy has been offering up raw, reduced and refined material leaning towards dub influence house and techno with Matthew Oh at the helms.
Here the story continues with a new various artists package, label boss Matthew Oh joins forces with Dot for ‘Horizon’, a seven and half minute excursion through bouncy bass stabs, expansive textural elements and crisp drums. Rawax, Vuo and Greyscale artist Nicolas Barnes steps up next with ‘Frames’, bringing a weight low- end groove to the forefront alongside murky dub stabs, shuffled percussion and cinematic pads.
Modernism opens the flip-side with ‘Metal Covered’, pairing organic percussion and weight subs with billowing atmospherics and swirling echoes before Ian Oskadev’s ‘Clarity Of Thoughts’ concludes the EP, laying down hypnotic, ever evolving pads with intricately intertwined stab sequences and heavily swung drums.

‘Contour Three’ opens the flip-side and throughout its six and a half minute duration intricately intertwines an
amalgamation of soft chord sequences, metallic chimes and soft drum hits.

After a long hiatus from the imprint over the past six years, white label Italian imprint Outlaw delivers welcomes the return of its label boss, Matthew Oh. Comprised of four originals with the labels dub-tinged aesthetic.

Since its inception with the ‘Outlaw’ EP by Matthew Oh back in 2015, the Italian label of the same name has slowly unveiled a heavily dub influenced blend of House, Techno and Electronica cuts on the label by the likes of TM_Shuffle, Gradient, Ohm & Octal Industries and more, while here it sees the welcome return of label founder, Matthew Oh with some freshly prepared dubbed out deep Techno cuts.

Opening the EP is title-track ‘Unseen’, laid out across seven minutes with a murky atmospherics tension, looped vocal murmurs, resonant synth flutters and shuffled, saturated drums. The aptly titled ‘Submerged’ then dives deeper via an amalgamation of fluttering dub stabs, vacillating bass swells, heavily swung percussion and heavily dub reggae vocal chants.

‘Transition’ kicks off the B-side of the EP, embracing a softer feel via airy, ethereal pad textures, shimmering stab lines and crisp, stripped back drums before ‘Voices’ rounds out the release with bumpy bass notes, hypnotic unfurling chord sequences, hypnotic drones and haunting voices throughout.

OHM & Octal Industries deliver their ‘Chaos Games’ EP via Italian imprint Outlaw this February, comprising three originals from the duo.

Ohm & Octal Industries have been steadily making their mark on the deep and dub
leaning Techno world over the past five years, racking up releases on the likes of
Rawax, Andrey Pushkarev’s Luck Of Access, Nilla and of Thule Records amongst
others. Here though we see the pair joining the roster of Outlaw, the Italian imprint run

by producer, DJ and Matthew Oh.

Kicking off the release is ‘Breather’, an apt name for the composition which attains an
underlying sense of calm via fluttering dub echoes, ethereal atmospherics and
wandering low-end tones while dynamic drums add the dance floor drive.
‘Strange Attractions’ follows next, edging into darker realms via murky synth textures,
squelching 303 licks and thunderous subs before ‘Creation’ rounds out the release,
stripping things back to bumpy shuffled drums, sweeping stab sequences and dubbed

out spoken word vocals.

Outlaw welcomes Tm Shuffle on its roster with his 'Waterside Dubs' EP.

Hailing from the forest of Ruutana in Finland, Vuo Records founder TM Shuffle has
been deliver his twist on contemporary dubbed out house and techno over the past years via imprint’s like Roger Gerressen’s Irenic, Translucent, Ranges and of course his own Vuo.
Here though we see him deliver his latest three-track EP via Outlaw, leading the release is ‘Viislampi Dub’ which sees the Finish artist employ classic dub tropes such a fluttering stab sequences and a choppy sub hits alongside a subtly nuanced drum groove.
‘Viimsi’ follows next to open the flip-side, this time round laying focus on hazy pads, bumpy off-kilter percussion and jazzy synth melodies before ‘Nocturnal Dub’ rounds out the release on a stripped-back tip. Employing an amalgamation of sharp synth flutters which ebb and flow around one another amongst a minimalistic, swinging rhythm and expansive echoes.
