All Hands to the Pumps is the third audio album by Kings Pond
Shantymen. It was recorded at Sunrise Sound Studio near Andover,
Hampshire, UK in October 2024. The sound engineer was Undy Hunt.
There are 21 tracks on the album, every one of the 15 men leads at
least one track and the newer members lead two. The material runs the
gamut from bawdy through humorous to lively, with several more
reflective items and one marvellous drinking song.
The group’s aims for the album were to be:
• Laugh out loud funny and rambunctious with serious interludes
• An engaging meld of different voices
• Refreshingly rough and ready in style with moments of exquisite
tonality, phrasing and harmony.
The approach taken in recording and mixing was to have a flavour of
the live performance style of the group whilst taking advantage of the
studio to produce a mellow and rich sound stage.
