This week we're taking time out from the usual array of new releases to remember Rod Temperton, Britain's greatest R&B man, one of the finest songwriters to come from England and also born and bred in Grimsby/Cleethorpes, where I grew up (he was a huge inspiration to me as a teenager from the local area).

Having got his break playing with Heatwave, an R&B band who made their name playing extensively around Europe on American army bases, he was brought into the fold by Quincy Jones to work on the Michael Jackson album Off The Wall (for which he wrote three songs) and then Thriller. He went on to write and produce for an incredible array of singers and performers, including Bob James, Anita Baker, Donna Summer, James Ingram, The Brothers Johnson, Quincy Jones' solo work and many more. RIP Worms.

91 Fellows came about as a tribute to her grandfather who passed away last year.  Vanese wanted to explore a side that 
was more emotional, atmospheric, experimenting with percussion sources. Instead of making a podcast/mix, she created "Terrapin Skydome" for the Australian website A Colourful Storm as a 30 minute original live score/composition to a 
fictitious film, practically creating a brand new body of work and offering a sonic opener to her new moniker and future release.

91 Fellows - Terrapin SkyDome

An essential piece of DJ History here! Starting in the early 1980s, Mills, using the name "The Wizard", was a recurring guest DJ on "The Electrifying Mojo" radio show on WJLB in Detroit. He performed DJ tricks like beat juggling and scratching during his sets (some of which were pre-recorded).

Recorded by a guy called Needlz way back when in 7 parts, more of which will follow.
