This popular song was written in 1926 and published in 1927. 
It was originally in waltz time, but later versions were in common time. "Charmaine" is one of many popular songs whose lyrics use a "Bluebird of happiness" as a symbol of cheer: "I wonder, when bluebirds are mating, will you come back again?" The song was originally composed for the 1926 silent movie What Price Glory?
Shel Talmy produced the Bachelors version with Big Jim Sullivan on lead guitar and Jimmy Page on guitar. 

The 1951 instrumental arrangement by Ronald Binge, performed by the Mantovani orchestra with Max Jaffa as its leader and soloist, was Mantovani's first hit in the United States. Binge's "cascading strings" arrangement, using closely overlapping string parts that create an echo effect, became a trademark sound for future Mantovani arrangements. The recording was released by London Records as catalog number 1020. It first reached the Billboard chart on November 9, 1951, where it remained for 19 weeks, peaking at #10.

The first few bars are partly from the Overture from "Norma".

Norma is a tragedia lirica or opera in two acts by Vincenzo Bellini with libretto by Felice Romani after Norma, ou L'infanticide (Norma, or The Infanticide) by Alexandre Soumet. It was first produced at La Scala in Milan on 26 December 1831.

The opera is regarded as a leading example of the bel canto genre and a major soprano aria, Casta diva, in act 1, is one of the most famous of the nineteenth century. Some notable Normas of the post-war period were Maria Callas, Joan Sutherland, and Montserrat Caballé.

Here´s my arrangement of "Va, Pensiero" - Gefangenenchor from Nabucco by grande Maestro Giuseppe Verdi, an italian composer (1813 - 1901). He composed his opera Nabucco in 1842. I hope, you enjoy my arrangement.

Here´s the beautiful "Georgia" from the movie "Gold Rush" from 1925, a fantastic theme. 

Composer is the Jack of all trades, the fabulous Charlie Chaplin!

The Gold Rush received Academy Award nominations for the Best Music and Best Sound Recording upon its re-release in 1942. It is today one of Chaplin's most celebrated works, and he himself declared several times that it was the film for which he most wanted to be remembered.
