Screaming Hand (Oliver Schories Remix)

Catalognumber 23 – what else is to say? While we’re feeling the spirit of William S. Burroughs blessing this very vinyl-enigma, &ME went particularly mysterious ways to transcend the category ‘dance track’ for this one.
The meditation through bass had been the major discipline of some of his latest cuts, but what you’ll find on this A-side, one could certainly call the perfection of somnambulistic peaktime-fever. The way he’s kneading the lower frequencies, how he’s channeling the expansion and decay of bass must inevitably lead to some aroused moaning. Good vocal-selection, for that matter! Then there are those tension building synths and a staccato-frenzy in the break that might be the ultimate ecstasy-trigger of the season.
“Locust” on B comes in with some smoothly looped E-guitar-coolness, adding whispering hi-hats and a comparatively rich percussive architecture. But then again: rolling bass barrels like a signature and a defence breaking build up that’s ensued by liberating pressure compensation in mighty breaks. Two demonstrations of understated and sophisticated peaktime-emphasis, so to say. Or differently put: a flawless double-A-side.

&ME - After Dark (Preview)

The seventh release on Kunai Records finds the label bosses Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic returning with their latest studio creation. The much loved trio last appeared on their home imprint with 'Domino Effect' which was released in June of this year. 'Keep In Touch' is their latest and comes with two amazing remixes from Quivver and Ioan Gamboa. 
Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic have always diversified their sound. A look back over their discography shows a huge body of work with all spectrums of progressive music being explored at one time or another. 'Keep In Touch' continues the recent trend into deep, driving and trippy territory. Following a strong intro filled with lovely aquatics and ethereal sounding vocal elements a massive groove eventually drops in and charges forward. It's rolling gallop is immediately powerful and the surrounding design complements it well. A dazzling display of sonic sounds and warm rhythms lead the track into the main breakdown. Here a more distinct theme is unleashed with grinding sound swells and waning tones combining for some strong harmonic hooks. The electricity further multiplies in the second half with phasing rhythms and driving bass lines pushing the track to an epic conclusion. Another big but also sonically satisfying production from Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic. 
The first remix is supplied John Graham aka Quivver who is making his debut appearance on Kunai Records. The storied UK producer has never wavered over the course of his now 20 plus year career. Quivver’s unmistakeable grooves remain some of the most powerful and effective around. Fresh off an outstanding production for his Boz Boz imprint Quivver delivers an excellent club  rendition of 'Keep In Touch'. John has stripped the production right down and  has once again nailed a contemporary groove based monster.  Reshaped elements from the original have been transformed into highly infectious,  rhythmic hooks and the tough, techy framework is undeniably groovy. Another outstanding remix from Quivver which you're bound to be hearing a lot in the coming months. 
The second and final remix on the release is provided by Ioan Gamboa who is also making his first appearance on Kunai Records. The Spanish born but now Berlin based producer has had a great 2014 thus far. It's a year that saw the release of his debut album 'Vibrations' along with a nice complement of singles for Balkan Connection and Proton Music. For his 'Keep In Touch' interpretation Ioan has delivered a trippy, musical sounding masterpiece. The tough framework keeps things neatly on the dance floor while layers of spacey electronics tantalize the senses. Crisp percussion and strong hypnotic rhythms push the track into the main break where the main themes from the original get reinvented wonderfully. The breakdown's drummy build and spacey top end is full of anticipatory vibes and the restrained re-entry is sure to be a delight for the educated club goers out there. Fabulous remix from Ioan which rounds out a top notch release on Kunai Records once again.

For Clint's second solo effort on Second State he brings us two big room jams. With the Throwing Stones EP he takes the same approach as he did with the previous Warpaint EP by going for two different vibes on either side of the record. 
On the A side we have 'Throwing Stones'; a peak time club tune perfect for dark spaces and strobe lights. With giant rolling sub bass, a heavy kick, crisp hi hats and crunchy hand claps the groove slowly grows into a big break with atmospheric chimes and vocal snippets. Soon you are lost in an ethereal break, but suddenly snapped back into reality as the bass changes and a single looping synth takes center stage creating a driving yet euphoric peak time floor filler. 
With the flip side, Clint goes for a warmer, uplifting tone with 'Come Undone'. Starting with finger snaps and a growing arpeggio, the vibe slowly builds as big toms and dreamy atmospherics introduce a massive sub bass line. As a shaker creeps up and another synth blends with the original arpeggio the beat finally drops. A solid four to the floor groove ensues and culminates into a wash of delayed chimes as the breakdown introduces the lead; an unforgettable brass line that is sure to have all the hands in the air at a sunny open air or a morning at the club.

Over a 15-year period Truesoul has set the standard for engaging and effective club music, drawing in fans from across the techno spectrum. A relentless dedication to quality means it’s logistically impossible for Adam Beyer to release music from all the impressive artists who send him tracks each year for Truesoul. This EP showcases four such outstanding cuts, all of which have been tried and tested in Beyer’s sets in recent months. Indeed, anyone who witnessed his deliciously groove-ridden daytime set at Sonus Festival in August (or listened via episode DCR370), would have already been treated to an unofficial preview of the release. 

Belgian’s Ramon Tapia kicks the EP off in superb style with ‘Hexagon’, an energetic slice of techno that builds towards a pumping finish. Fast rising Manchester duo OC & Verde team up with Italian producer Veerus for ‘Naaki’, the track highlighted by a rousing call-to-arms vocal that saw it go down a storm during Beyer’s annual gig on the Amnesia Terrace for Cocoon in Ibiza. The beautiful vocal-led ‘Take My Life’ follows courtesy of Spaniard Marc Marzenit, adding an extra dimension to the release, while still having enough percussive fizz to keep the dancefloor moving. Southampton’s Ronnie Spiteri is another emerging talent to create waves in 2017 and he delivers the knockout blow with ‘Sugar Lips’, a chunky soul-infused offering that’ll be effective in house and techno sets alike.
