To celebrate the fifth anniversary of our label, we present Various Aliens / Fifth Contact, a unique compilation that brings together collaborations between the founder and 15 artists from different corners of the world.

The name plays with the idea of “VA” (Various Artists), transformed into “Various Aliens” as a metaphor for that creative diversity that seems to come from other dimensions.

Fifth Contact refers both to the number 5 of our anniversary and, at the same time, evokes the notion of an extraterrestrial encounter beyond imagination: a connection that transcends borders, styles, and languages—a cosmic meeting through music.

The result is a sonic journey of abstract textures, dark minimalism, and interplanetary energy that reflects the essence of the label and its global network of collaborators.

For their tenth anniversary, Lucidflow return to physical media with a value packed slice of wax. Klartraum and co-owner Nadja Lind feature, alongside production behemoth D. Diggler and, fresh face to the family, Spettro. The vinyl edition of this release is strictly limited with a full colour sleeve to accompany it. 
Over the ten years of Lucidflow, Nadja and Helmut have steered a ship that has seen luminary artists such as Silicone Soul, Ian Pooley, Funk D'Void, Brendon Moeller, Helly Larson and Justin Berkovi guest within its catalogue. 
Nadja leads off at full tilt with a high energy workout on 'Holistic Kit', teaming tumbling drums with sci-fi synths and poignant key changes. With high tempo techno and the return of synth led music being a key theme from 2018, this is absolutely on the money. Pairing with the usually rambunctious D. Digger, 'Mekong Delta' is more contemplative. Named after the Vietnamese region, the track is as hypnotically undulating as the river that runs through it.
Then, joining up with fellow Lucidflow co-owner Helmut Ebritsch, 'Weltenwandler' is a typical Klartraum workout. Ocean deep, the key aspect to lock on to here is the rising and falling dub chord that underpins the track. It goes from a supporting rhythmic tone to lynchpin of the evolving melody which creeps in sneakily as the track evolves. Finishing off the release is 'Lunch With Kerri' from Spettro. The Little Helpers and Get Physical artist returns to Lucidflow with a particularly on point piece of jazz flecked broken down techno. Full of energy, it is a crackling highlight, and a little taster of what is to come from this artist on Lucidflow in the near future.

The vinyl edition of this package is due to hit around May 2019, don't sleep on it.

Berlin’s underground music mavericks Deadbeat and T. Raumschmiere have joined forces for a new project called Masters Of Disasters, conceived during a week-long residency in Utrecht and inspired by the mind melting fun of the Dutch Stekker festival. Following many sleepless nights, plenty of bread sandwiches, and a surplus of coffee and vodka consumption – an incredible 4-track EP was born, perfectly suitable for the unstoppable Souvenir Music imprint and dancefloors that know how to get down and dirty.

Kicking off the EP is ‘Fraak,’ a loopy, twisted piece of machine-driven music designed to lock the listeners into a heady groove from start to end. Tracky, gritty and brilliantly produced, the sounds within ‘Fraak’ are all about those glorious bits of dirt found inside the elements. 

‘Maztaz’ comes next with a stripped back affair crammed with glitchy hits, mind-melting vocal elements and some truly off-kilter production techniques. It’s a tension building cut which invites the listeners into dark corners of the mind while keeping them locked on the floor. 

‘Call The Guy’ keeps the nasty underground sounds moving along with a more melodic affair from the duo. Tension building and gritty, narcotic elements remain at the forefront whilst subtle late-night melodies generate an incredible sense of atmosphere and debauchery. 

Rounding out the EP is ‘Are You Sure’ which flips the script entirely into a jackin’ piece of wonky electronica. It’s the sounds of the two clever production wizards finally losing the plot and having a bit of fun while pushing their studio capabilities to the limits. Only for the brave. 

Collaborative efforts are always an exciting moment in dance music – the merging of two brilliant brains putting their best ideas forward usually generate brand new ideas and unexpected results. This project – by two of Berlin’s leading underground heroes, is the result of incredible creativity and decades of dancefloor staying power.
