This message is intended to any form of life throughout the universe. You may decipher it by arranging its data in 23 arrays and 73 columns. This is a manifest for mankind’s knowledge, as of November 16th, 1974, whatever sense this should make to you.

This message is a bottle thrown into an interstellar sea.

We know maths, so much that we use them to quantify everything in our everyday lives. To think, to plan, to build, to process our surroundings. We have recently reached a point where we struggle to understand them on both extremities of the infinite.

This message is a bottle thrown into an interstellar sea.

We know where we are. Within the Milky Way, inside the Solar System, we crowd Earth. We are surrounded by eight other planets. We never stepped foot on any other planet than ours. Today we only seem like the smallest thing to ever happen in the universe. We are terrified. Feeling like doing so much, yet representing so little, makes us dread the possibility that we are actually alone in the universe. Our home planet is slowly dying, leaving us with little hope that we’ll see a new century rise on our civilization. This is no SOS. We know we are doomed. By the time you’ll receive this message, more than 20 000 years will have passed since it was sent, and it would take at least as much time for us to receive an answer. This is no call for help. This is a puny try at not being forgotten, and this is in hope that, whoever you are, you will be able to do better than we did.
