Daniel Johnston's "I Live My Broken Dreams" revisited.
This song touched me, I felt I could relate to it. So I changed some of the lyrics for it to fit to my story. In 2013, I was studying in north Japan and decided in the middle of the year to backpack alone around Asia for 3 months. I travelled around 10 countries. When I came back to Japan I had a nervous breakdown. I stayed in this state for weeks. I finally made it back home to France and got diagnosed with bipolar disorder, the same illness Daniel Johnston suffers from. It took me a year to recover and this period of time is still very confusing in my mind. It may be the kind of episode Daniel wanted to express when writing "The wildest (time) that I ever knew, I had a flat tire down memory lane. But I came back after...And now I'm just trying to explain". So here's my modest hommage to Daniel Johnston's work. I encourage you to go check his music out, it's worth some of your time.
