Just over a year since its inception and plenty of strong, dance-floor oriented releases down the line, Light my Fire presents its first compilation, ‘Future of House’, which gathers fourteen exquisite tracks by the label’s core artists and friends. As the title suggests, the young label is ambitiously aiming to look towards the future, while referencing timeless house signifiers and contemporary soundscapes in the process. Ranging from the euphoric bounce of Dan Caster & Björn Störig’s ‘Go With The Flow’ to the almost oppressive stomp of Kry Wolf’s remix of ‘Love Ain’t Free’; from the old-school rave vibe of Niconé’s ‘Burnhain’ to R.I.P. Productions fast-paced modernist garage-step; from Leftwing & Kody’s bottom-heavy remix of Kellerkind’s ‘I Know’ to the light-hearted samples in Jaymo & Andy George’s ‘Remember’ – there’s plenty of quality material for the heads. As the final key stabs of the bittersweet ‘Good Lovin’ by Marlon Hoffstadt & HRRSN feat. Focus the Truth fade out, it becomes apparent that LMF doesn’t necessarily see the future of house in one singular style, but rather in a multitude of facets… quality is key.

Info
KANT translates to "edge" from Danish, referring to something unconventional, exciting and new, which doesn’t immediately fit inside a box and dares to be different. These characteristics perfectly sum up the music of young Copenhagen producer Joachim Schaarup-Jensen. After causing waves with releases on Katermukke, Suara and Kittball, we welcome KANT to Light my Fire with the excellent ‘Switch’ EP. 	

The title track ‘Switch feat. Anne Kim Thordson’ is a chugging house monster that focuses on a seductive female spoken-word accentuated by heavy hits, ominous synths and a pumping kick drum: reduced, yet lethal. Next, ‘Shook’ is more laidback as it revolves around a tropical Balearic theme with impressive flow. On their ‘Switch’ remixes, Artenvielfalt opt for a jazz-infused drum intro, which drops into a peak-time deep house groove to dazzling effect, while Kreature delivers an old school workout of 303-goodness. Danish dynamite!

Our newest LMF release comes in the form of a split-EP between two newcomer acts, the Berlin-based Jiggler, who’s had plenty of success under another pseudonym, and the Australian Kwala Kidz, who are celebrating their debut here. For their part, the Kwala Kidz focus on big emotions, as ‘The One’ caters for plenty of hand-in-the-air moments. ‘On My Mind’, on the other hand, is a more straightforward DJ-tool, which is effective and addictive in equal measures. Then, the playfully entitled ‘Jiggle With It’ immediately confirms that Jiggler knows his craft: an elastic bass line wraps itself around a driving groove, accentuated by airy strings and euphoric diva-hooks. Next up, ‘Deeper’ is wonderfully relaxed, while a pumping kick and epic break guarantee it is danceable, too.
