This week's i-DJ comes courtesy of Ardalan. His productions of gnarly, gritty bass, super tight drums and an appeal that ventures far further than the chin-strokers is what makes the Iranian born DJ/ producer so suited to the DIRTYBIRD Records family. His latest offering to the label comes in the form of the i-D-premiered Function, an infectious club banger that we cant get enough. Now we welcome him into the i-D mix family with 50 minutes of straight bumping house, with a little added wind down to round things off... and we must say, its bloody brilliant.

Having honed his production skills over the past seven years, Jey Kurmis career has steadily been on the rise since his debut release on Phobic Records.

Jey Kurmis name kicked into overdrive after the ‘Lil’ Nic French EP’ dropped on Hot Creations last year. Since that day, Jey has had tracks featured on Defected, Resonance, ViVA, Wow!,, and Moon Harbour, while also supplying a steady stream of remixes. At this point in 2016, Jey can be found once again on Hot Creations, where he has cemented himself as a firm favorite, with the "Not Too Flabbeh" EP that features an additional remix from Jamie Jones.

This 12-14 August, Jey Kurmis will be in Palm Springs, California alongside the likes of Gorgon City, Hudson Mohawke, and MK, where he will take to the decks at Splash House. Anticipating that event, Jey has put together an exclusive mix for us. So, sit back and enjoy the ride that hopefully takes you straight into the California desert.

Coachella was my very first festival I ever attended. That first night I saw Daft Punk Live and in that moment I decided I didn't want to be a Hip Hop DJ anymore and that my true calling was DJing House Music. From 2006-2010 Coachella was all I knew of the festival world. To me it was the best weekend of the year, every year. The Do LaB was always my favorite stage at Coachella because I thought of it as a safe haven for the freakiest people at the festival. It wasn't until 2011 that my friend dragged me to The Do Lab's Lightning In A Bottle Festival that my entire world was flipped upside down again. This whole time I had been broing down at Coachella, there was a community of freaks and weirdos thriving just an hour from my house. These were my people and I had found my new home. While having an epiphany moment of love on the dance floor, a woman looked at me and said, "Honey you need to go to Burning Man". And the rest is history...

The Do LaB ultimately led me to the life I live now. Without The Do LaB there would be no Desert Hearts and my life would probably be very different now. Being able to come full circle and play The Do LaB at Coachella in front of all my friends and family with the Desert Hearts Crew was a dream come true. I hope you enjoy the set!
