The Rabble and The Rousing

Matt Lazenby is a singer-songwriter from Montreal, Québec. Born and raised in Yorkshire, England, Matthew migrated to Montreal in the late 2000s and has played guitar and sung in various projects over the years. He began his musical career in the band Wind-Up Radio Sessions, as the bassist and co-songwriter. The band released three acclaimed albums over the course of several years, and toured extensively, playing festivals such as North by Northeast, Halifax Pop Explosion, and Canadian Music Week. More recently, he has been an integral member of HALDE, the indie pop band fronted by ex Groenland singer, Sabrina Halde. HALDE have spent most of 2023 and 2024 touring throughout Québec since the release of their critically acclaimed album, The Flow. Lazenby is also a founding member and co-frontman of the Montreal based rock band, The Constant Supervision, whose 2019 EP ‘Melting like Tigers’ was named one of the year’s best by Le Canal Auditif. As a solo artist, Matt Lazenby independently released a home-made EP in 2020 featuring idiosyncratic versions of English folk standards. The EP was entitled ‘Sweet Dreams of Life’ and received radio-play on BBC Introducing as well as many positive reviews.
