I love the bouncy, happy, summer feel that this track has and I hope that you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed remixing it! I wanted to give this track an old-school reggae/ska vibe and used lots of vintage gear plug-ins to help achieve this. I wanted to try and capture the magic of some of my heroes like Toots and the Maytals, Jacob Miller and Inner Circle, Jimmy Cliff, Bob Marley, The Slickers and The Ethiopians amongst many others. I passed all the tracks through an emulation of the very first Helios ‘Type 69’ console which was originally found at Island’s Basing Street Studio. It was used to record and mix some of the finest reggae classics ever produced. In addition I ran everything out through a Studer A-800 tape machine and also used a Roland RE-201 Space Echo for some vintage echo and reverb. Finally, I ran it out to an Ampex ATR-102 after going through a Shadow Hills Compressor and a Manley Massive Passive EQ. I’ve spent a lot of time in Jamaica over the years and hope that I have managed to capture some of that magic that I feel when I am there. Peace!

Sundance returns with ‘Bass (How Low Can You Go?) Sundance Remix. His Trap House take on the 1988 classic by Simon Harris.

First out in 1988 on Pete Tong’s Polygram label FFRR, the original was a Billboard Number 1 for UK acid house legend and Grammy award winner Simon Harris, who wrote and produced the track with Professor Griff from Public Enemy.

Now 27 years later, Sundance has brought the track right up-to-date with an amazing heavy bass, trap house vibe with some wicked new 808 beats and an awesome bass line that still manages to be faithful to the original and keeps Chuck D’s classic vocals.

Sundance was really pumped to be able to collaborate with Simon Harris. “I was a huge fan of ‘Bass’ when it first came out and played it all the time as a DJ. It’s one of those ground breaking tracks that really kicked-off and shaped the start of the whole House/Acid House movement in the UK. Simon Harris is a legend!”

Harris became famous in the early 80s as a producer and DJ with his unique approach to merge Hip-Hop and house music. As founder of the Hip-Hop label “Music Of Life” and creator of “Beats, Breaks And Scratches”, a series of scratch-vinyls for DJ ́s, he was one of the driving personalities of the emerging DJ culture of the late 80s and early 90s.

This one is a monster! It’s sure to break bass cabinets and sub-woofers everywhere! Watch out!

From his early days as a club DJ in the UK and Ibiza, Sundance has always looked to be a pioneer and innovator. Never following trends, but instead evolving with the times and pushing music forward, he’s always looking to take his remixes in unexpected directions and breathe a fresh vibe into whatever track he’s working on.

It’s always busy for this prolific remixer, producer, DJ and artist. In 2014 Sundance first gained worldwide attention and praise for his infectious reworking of Tears For Fears 1982 international smash hit ‘Pale Shelter’. More remixes soon followed for Gary Numan, Linkin Park and Dragonette amongst others.

His first original release ‘Solar Plexus’ gained worldwide exposure and support from DJ’s from as far afield as Miami, NY, LA, Las Vegas, the UK, Europe, Japan, Australia and beyond! His follow-up single ‘Feel So High’ was also met with rave reviews by DJ’s across the globe and in 2015 he set the reggae world on fire with his outstanding remix of ‘Tenement Yard (News Carryin’ Dread)’ by Inner Circle feauring Chronixx. The track gained huge worldwide exposure and support through Inner Circle’s social media sites and was featured by blogs such as the Digital DJ Pool who said “The beauty of a riddim is seeing what different artists do with the same set of sounds. It can end up sounding like a totally different song in the right, or wrong, hands. Producer and remixer, Sundance, happens to possess the right ones.” The track went on to top the Digital DJ Pool Reggae chart for a staggering four weeks!

A remix for David Guetta and Nicki Minaj’s track ‘Hey Mama’ soon followed and blew up the interwebs when Sundance bestowed the track with a cool, laid-back soulful vibe which helped the track top the Digital DJ Pool ‘Soulful House’ chart for a second straight four weeks! Next up was his banging remix of Major Lazer’s ‘Too Original’ featuring Elliphant & Jovi Rockwell and then back to his old skool roots for a monster up-to-date Trap House remix of Simon Harris’ 1988 classic number one hit ‘Bass: How Low Can You Go?’ featuring Chuck D from Public Enemy. 

In 2015 his disco/funk inspired ‘Neptune Mix’ of Daya’s worldwide double platinum hit ‘Hideaway’ took the Internet by storm and has currently clocked-up over 750,000 plays on his soundcloud page alone! He quickly followed this with an unlikely but incredible bootleg mashup of Adele’s ‘Send My Love’ and MIA’s ‘Paper Planes’, which was inspired by a conversation with the legendary remixer and producer Shep Pettibone. This mashup currently has over a million plays through the various social media sites.

Sundance never seems to stop working and in 2017 he went disco again with his remix of the Selena Gomez hit ’Bad Liar’. Following this, he went back to his house roots for his latest remix for the iAmHouse label and their release of The Four Kings (Eddie Gordon, Ian Curnow, Danny Rampling, Tony Moorcroft) Featuring Sybil hit - ‘Together You & I’.
