Harmony

In a little town no one has ever heard of, she stacked her pennies into groups of 10.
She had just enough for eggs and maybe coffee, after this, she couldn't eat again. 
Her husband left her stranded and expecting, she expected, they'd find out soon enough.
The labor was the love and with her last breath, she named the girl the best name she could think of.

Harmony. Harmony.
Love will grow, If you will plant the seed.
With Harmony, Harmony.
Never heard nothing sweeter, than Perfect Harmony.

The doctor came to find the girl dying, and the baby was stronger than he thought.
And the momma left this world holding onto, the last glimpse of love she ever saw.
Well the owner and the waitress they got married, and they took in the girl born inside that booth.
And they told her as she aged, about her momma, and the name her mama left her to use.

Now the mill has shut down cause there was no money, and the train doesn't stop here anymore.
But the cafe that her parents left her, is busy and never shuts it's doors.

There's not much here to stay,

There's a call out on the wind,
Telling me where all it's been,
So the time has come again,
To explore

In the high and low,  valleys or the mountain snow,

I've been waiting on a breeze, 
Enough to shake the trees,

Those old jeans                                                            

He's been wearing blue jeans for his whole life
He even rolled the cuff when it was cool
He can't remember how many pairs he's wore out,
He sure knows it's been more than a few
They used to make the girls stop and comment,
Seemed that leather tag used to have a power
But now he has to wear them while he's working,
And the pockets never fill up by the hour

He's been broken and he's bled, had to back up what he said, 
Even when he thought he was dead, he still kept them clean
Every pair has the same scars, blown out knees and patched up parts, 
Empty pockets from the start, in those old jeans

He's gotta to be to work in three short hours,
He'll wear out those new jeans from what he does
Never bothered him except for hurting,
He'll never be the kid that he once was
Now every single pocket has its purpose
Holding all the things he needs to take
So he crams his phone into the left front
The wallet and the round can he can't shake

His wife has been keeping all the pieces 
Worn out jeans and patches that she sewed
And somehow she found enough good denim
And even a few pockets without holes
Thirty years of working hard on graveyard
She's put together a pattern of his past.
Each piece a different memory they shared,
And she's crying as she stitches in the last

Those Old Jeans

I am a songwriter, and a singer when I have to be. 

It's important that songwriting always goes first, because that's what I have the most and best of...I always have songs that are open for co-writes with serious writers, and love seeing a story come alive inside the borders of a melody.
