Fledgling London-based producer Malfie returns to Robsoul for a fourth dispatch, adding to his burgeoning discography with another package of funk-heavy, toughed-out, street-influenced House.
The Groove Story EP opens with the cantering, slow and low Odd Flip. A shuffling groove with cut’n’splice aesthetics at its heart, sporting soulful vocal runs and radiant vibes.
The title track comes with bottom-heavy kick drums and pulsing, rolling basslines in a decisively 90’s feel-good tone, while closer Feelin Good does exactly what it says on the tin. Boosting the mood with its finely tuned filters and French Touch bump.

Malfie - Odd Flip

Gareth Cole makes his debut on the label with a powerful three-tracker. The UK based artist broke onto the scene in late 2022 and quickly piqued the interest of German House pioneer, Steve Bug, who signed his second EP 'Signal'. Using Sublease Music as a homebase, Gareth has now signed to a number of influential imprints including Keep Thinking and Orhal. With musical influences ranging from Sasha to Larent Garnier via Dubfire and Ben Klock, his warm, hypnotic sound is sure to appeal to a wide range of DJs. Opening with 'Connection' Gareth's deep affinity with the deeper side of house is easy to see. Warm and vibey, the track develops an almost progressive feel as washes and stabs sweep over you like a cool breeze as stare out at the sea. 'Departure' explores that crossover territory more deeply. Aquatic and icy, the dubby feel juxtaposes its warm and inviting energy. Finally, 'Hypnodub' draws everything together. Snappy percussion melodic keys keep the tempo up and the track builds energy. Simple but incredibly effective, the Gareth Cole sound is about to destroy a dancefloor near you very soon!

As you are about to read, I have not paid for a professional bio and I am not going to talk about myself in the third person. I am a beard shaker from Glasgow, Scotland where I produce deep, chunky, jazzy, tribal, spiritual vibrations. I am either in control of the music or strutting about the dance floor like a confused flamingo mixed with a nervous spring onion. You may need good quality drugs to enjoy my music - poor quality drugs may also work.

My vibrations have found their way onto some of the most respected underground labels in the world – Elrow Music, KMS Records, Nite Grooves (King Street Sounds), Great Stuff (VA), Material Series, Simma Black, Madtech (MTDL), Toolroom (Ibiza VA), iRecords, InHouse, Flashmob, Younan Music and more. I also co-own record label Cueca Recordings with Jonathan David (CAN).

My track "Jazz Kneecaps" reached #1 in the Traxsource Deep House charts in 2018 and I was in the top 100 best selling deep house producers on Traxsource in 2018, 2019 & 2020. I have officially remixed Wally Lopez, Darren Emerson (Underworld), Kevin Yost, Iban Montoro & Jazzman Wax, Saeed Younan & Charles Ramirez. 

My music has also been remixed by heavy hitters Joeski, Demuir, Ellroy and Hauswerks. I now have 4 vinyl releases with 2 on Material Series alongside Danny Serrano, Raffa FL, and Eskuche & Nu Sky. My mum turned one of them into a cake stand and another one into a clock. Probably make more money selling them that way.
