2021 and another year done… omicron surging through my veins as i write this. Man, every year we ask the team to send us their tracks at Halloween and every year we’re chopping and changing moments before launch. But that’s how it’s gotta be and that’s what’s so vital about this series, now in its 12th year. This never gets more relaxed. We should probably be spending this time of year chilling out and reflecting on what’s coming over the horizon but vinyl lead times already got us making records for July. It’s like the digital and the physical world are pulling further and further apart.

We hope you love this compilation as much as we do. Thanks to the artists and everyone involved in getting this together. Pioneer of "New Club Waves"
Derived from the roots of the original Baltimore Club example and the new era of Baltimore Club Music, “New Club Waves” is a sound mixed with influences from various genres Calvo became fond of over a 21 year time span.
With early examples created in 2015 , the style was officially established in 2018.

Interview: 
-What are your inspirations as a Producer?
A lot of my inspiration come from things I heard in various places growing up, & my African drum class experience assisting in rhythm arrangement .
 

-What are your favorite songs at the moment?

 I don’t have any favorites currently, but I’ve been tuning into what Alias , Kooxla , Mans Plan , Kade Young , S.dot , 1-800 RAZ , NativeSun, & SNPR BSS.
 

-What advice would you give to up and coming DJs/Producers?

A:don’t give up. It’s a journey for everyone, and the time it takes one to get to a destination don’t determine how soon you’ll reach your own.

B: LEARN YOUR HISTORY! And put respect on whatever you are inspired by. You may end up becoming an influencer one day. You don’t want to be responsible for influencing an audience while in turn destroying another legacy. Genres are precious. Protect them all!

C: Comprehend when someone is giving you constructive criticism vs projecting/ defining what “good music” is onto you. Pioneers don’t become pioneers listening to others. You can do whatever you want !
