Covering various classics is not uncommon in Italo Disco. Hardly a song that has not been pressed through the synth mill and spit out again with its own charm.

This is also the case with the premiere release from the label "Mattoni Pazzi" with the "Monomax Band": As the song title already reveals, you will find a reference to the Led Zeppelin classic on side A. In full 80's Italo fashion, this version is peppered with synth riffs, glittering arpeggios, a thundering DX-7 bassline and almost gothic-tinged vocals.

Side B is a remake of the remake and drifts off into the cosmic at a much higher tempo. A hypnotic repetitive bassline is underpinned with loving, oriental-inspired, lead melodies and vibrating soundscapes.

Now the two exceptional artists present their latest work: GOTT – MUTATIO on the Zurich based label Mattoni Pazzi.

“Alles wird gut” was the motto of the occupied Wohlgroth-Areal in Zurich in 1993, where Sonic Violence was invited to the concert of their “Transfixion” album tour. Industrial beats, dark samples, guitar riffs and moshing punks dominated the scene. At the ticket booth there were CDs to take away: “Sonic Violence – Transfixion”!

A template that now, 30 years later, adorns this memory with the selected track “Malice” in a new guise. GOTT mutates the original into a dark hell ride.

Enter the realm of the Fields of the Nephilim! The guardian waits, a lifetime. Profound and melancholic, he is transformed by GOTT. Dark souls remain dark souls. Daringly and nevertheless tradition-consciously they march through the black terrain. Interwoven by GOTT, guarded by GOTT. Well – GOTT is the guard! Sneaker DJ has released about 50 records of chicago, Italo and synth. His latest record is the upcoming first 12" on Mattoni Pazzi - a remix EP and collaboration with @scannoir : GOTT - Mutatio (https://soundcloud.com/mattonipazzi/sets/mps002-gott-mutatio). 

He shared with us his set from Cosmic Deluxe - a festival for disco diggers and left-of-center live acts; this summer held 50km East of Berlin towards the Polish border. The amazingly intimate and open festival was hosted by the lovely Wahid Paradis (@wahidsolh) and his friends (shout outs!). Cosmic Deluxe is deriving its spirit from Camp Cosmic  since it was invented by Albion in Sweden on the occasion of his birthday. 

"Returning to a Cosmic fest after last year's hiatus left me with one big question - what to play? The 7" collection didn't grow considerably in the last 2 years.
So I picked the records that grew accumulated since I played a darker set - well ... as Dunkeltier in 2016. Not particularly "Cosmic" either. But remarkably psychedelic - not only because of the Timothy Leary citations - and therefore in the Cosmic tradition in a wider sense. It's clashing here and there - the typical friction I accept, I am even seeking for in my sets ever since (or at least since the Disco Train is rolling on Rat Life 1 in 2013). Far from synced, generic patterns the mix is challenging you with disharmonic dubbing, dares to layer badly edited originals (comparable to disco records "without a click") and even entirely different metra. Not mentioning the hard to grasp sunless tunes before I blend into more celestial realms.

I don't offer a tracklist, but I wanna point you on two tunes by the fabulous label Moonwalk X - run by the equally genius and adored DJ turning head by shouting his name Cid Hohner (@cidhohner)."

They are a fantastic guys based in Switzerland.
They have the italo platform here on soundcloud named @giroditalo  and if you take a listen to some of their mixes you will see they are really ...really good, their taste for the real and rare underground italo disco is amazing.

Well, if u listen to this mix.... and I'm sure that you guys know a lot of italo.... u will listen… and you will see the whole selection is from Switzerland! Swiss tracks!
A great Challenge for them... because...I  know it must be so fucking difficult selecting just Swiss tracks... well now we know that in the middle of 80’s there were great artists in Switzerland. The gems never cease to enlighten us. 

They  delivered us this banging fanatic mix to get in the mood! A really great selection... for me one of the best in ITALO MODERNI.
