Each year, 24 people from around the world are assigned a time of day and tasked with creating a mix or playlist that corresponds to their designated hour. Together, we collectively create a full 24 hours of music designed to provide a soundtrack for an entire day—start to finish.

The Cave 005 is a slow rise toward the glow—ambient frequencies, downtempo meditations, and gentle grooves selected to hold space for healing, movement, and lightness.

Where previous entries invited shadow work and release, this one offers reconnection. Resilience. Radiance. A sonic ceremony for shaking off the dust and remembering the warmth in your chest.

Antaares is a young musician and Live-act from Mexico-City.  Despite his young age, he is already a big reference in the Mexican downtempo scene.
But he has also made a name for himself in Europe and played at festivals such as Fusion in Germany.   Ataraxia is the first single of his upcoming EP on Amselcom, which will include remixes by Ninze and O/Y as well. 
This song was already on a wave of hype during the turn of the year and got support by DJs like Mira Kater, Seth Schwarz & Acid Pauli. The elegance of deep dub sounds are garnished with melancholy brass melodies that seem like fragments of distant memories.

Dub Techno Blog Guest Mix 009 - Substak

I was recently selected to take part in a project where 24 DJs were chosen to make a mix for a certain hour of the day..In the end all the mixes will be hosted in one place to provide a full day/nights soundtrack.
 I was given 2am to 3am...I figured that I would start off high energy to keep the party going but slowly progress into some weird stuff toward the end..I hope you enjoy this concoction I have made..It was fun to play some things I normally may not play out and also play some of my fav bangers...Shout out to Beau Gaerlan for bringing me in on this.

24 Hours of Music - 2019

00:00-01:00 : Bump and Flow

This mix — my first participation in the 24 hour mix project — represents a passage through darkness.

As a nightowl, ever since I was young, creative energy would strike like lightning in the dark of night. A siren’s song, the call to adventure from a seductive muse — I had no choice but to answer. I would set sail into the night, fueled by inspiration, determined.

During these creative benders, momentum would carry over for 2-3 hours past midnight without hesitation. And then, at some blurred point between 3 and 4, the wind would subside, the sails would empty, and storm clouds would begin to form.

04:00 – 05:00 to me has always been the most challenging hour. As delirium begins to set in, it takes the utmost effort to continue on the original charter. Tumultuous and like a tunnel with no end in sight, it truly feels like the darkest point. But it’s always darkest just before the dawn: as stillness sets in, the birds begin to wake and stormy skies clear for deliverance. 

This mix reflects the energy, weirdness, delirium and pertinacity required for that passage. Curated lovingly over late nights, I hope you find creative inspiration and beauty in this hour.

This is the 1600-1700 hour of the 2019 24 hours of music project, where 24 musical selectors each program one hour of the day.

This is the golden hour. Spring is here and summer is on the way. It’s time to step back and slow down. Pop open the window — or step outside. Round up your closest friends and pop some champagne. Bask together in sun-soaked waves of rich nostalgia, backed by this eclectic blend of of blissed out chillwave, psychedelic rock, experimental RnB, and indie dance.

This is one of my favorite annual traditions and I’m so honored to participate. Many thanks to Beau Gaerlan (@beau-gaerlan) for stewarding this year’s project, and to Kelsey Aroian for originally bringing it to life.
