In 2023, Santorin marks its quarter-century anniversary, a huge milestone for the label. The '25 Years of Santorin' series celebrates the label’s steadfast dedication to discovering, nurturing, and delivering the finest forward-thinking drum & bass from Germany and beyond.

Like a rock in a fast-moving current, Santorin has stayed true to this ethos and the traditions of the music, while also being shaped by the new, vibrant, and vivid styles that have emerged in the past two and a half decades.

Since the 90ties, he is one of the electronic and urban music scene’s highly respected pioneers connecting the dots of the various moods and stories that breakbeats and its sub genres can tell.

Musically influenced by Jazz, Hip Hop, Techno, House and Jungle plus a qualified jazz piano player and conductor alike, he lives and loves rolling basslines, powerful vibes and deepness – mind, body and soul.

Hailing from Dortmund (Germany), Dash played out soulful broken beat sounds and basslines with sound-system culture references firstly through the local and nationwide club and festival scene and then across all of Europe on a regular basis even at times when it was not en vogue. You can never pin just one style to Dash – for him, it is the love of the moment and the people around him that count.

For 30 years, he has helped shape the biggest music festival in his area and is curating a multiplicity of club programs.
As the creator of many regular nationwide radio shows, Dash provides some of the few artist-led broadcasts on the German and Portuguese FM radio landscape. He is also working as a booker, journalist, lecturer, editor and writer in the context of club culture as well.

Although Dash is most famous for his open-minded take on Drum and Bass, he has built a widespread reputation for his deep knowledge of Jazz, Downbeat, World Music, Soul, Hip Hop, House and organic genres nearby through his lectures and over 2000 DJ sets in legendary clubs and at various festivals.

As a member of several music and art collectives and as an initiator of the famous Subport events and resident DJ at several club nights alike, Dash continues his unbroken career.

A Sides is a British drum & bass producer, DJ, and engineer active since 1990. Over more than three decades he has maintained a consistent presence in the genre, recognised for precision in production and a broad stylistic range. His output exceeds 500 released tracks across key drum & bass labels including Metalheadz, Valve, True Playaz, Reinforced, Hospital, Innerground, and Spearhead.

As a performer, A Sides has appeared worldwide, with sets in Japan, Brazil, South Africa, Iceland, Europe, and North America. Notable appearances include Fabric, Ministry of Sound, Wembley Arena, and Plan B in London. Despite global recognition, he remains closely connected to underground culture, focusing on technical craft and musical continuity.

In 1996 he founded Eastside Records, an imprint that has become central to his catalogue and collaborations, releasing more than 100 titles and the Eastside Jamz compilation series. His solo albums trace a clear creative progression: Follow the Groove (2003), Worldwide (2010), Mysterious Vibes (2011), Based Upon Bass (2013), Revisited (2014), Quart (2016), 50 Shades of A (2020), and Life & Soul (2022).

Collaboration has been a defining element of his work. A Sides has produced alongside Calibre, Makoto, DJ Marky, Goldie, Randall, Break, Jenna G, and others. His long-standing partnership with MC Fats generated several influential releases, while the Sci-Clone project with jazz musician Nathan Haines linked electronic production and live instrumentation, culminating in the Radio Therapy album on Metalheadz in 2023.

Beyond production, A Sides has acted as A&R for Eastside and Fuze, helping to develop emerging artists such as Break. He curated major community projects, including We Gotcha (2013–2014) and the 624 EP (2016), uniting leading producers in support of MC Fats. His 2014 Worldwide Mix for BBC Radio, invited by Gilles Peterson, connected underground drum & bass with a wider audience.

Marking 25 years of releases, the Quart project in 2016 featured MC Fats, Makoto, Vanessa Freeman, and Cool Hand Flex, with remixes by Spirit, Serum, Voltage, and Break. Subsequent work includes the Fours EP on Sun and Bass Recordings and renewed activity through Eastside Records, Compound Records, Exiled Recordings, and Symmetry Recordings.

A Sides now operates Zenith Mastering, providing mastering and production services, and continues to collaborate internationally. His recent credits include the Liquid Drum & Bass 4 Autism compilation (2024) with Big Bud, Furney, and MC Tali, and production work for Tinie Tempah on “Eat Em Up” and “Closer.” A forthcoming 12-track album for Liquid Drum & Bass 4 Autism is scheduled for 2026, extending a career that remains integral to the evolution of drum & bass.
