Where did this song come from?
"It's based on a colloquy between me and my devil/demons" matt explains, "it's a journey into purgatory, a battle against  an internal dark side with a triumphant, righteous air" 

What are the lyrics about?
"As usual with my songs, the lyrics are fairly cryptic and leave a lot of room for the individuals interpretation. If I explained every line then the listeners own creative response would be greatly limited."

Is there an overall message you're trying to convey?
"I guess I just want people to question themselves, instead of looking outside for something to blame for their problems, go inside and realize the potential we all have to overcome our inherent fear."
 
Well I've seen Matt live a few times now and every time is different and deeply captivating. My job entails listening to dozens of albums a week which tends to get a bit monotonous, but I have to say I can't wait to hear Shoe Boycotter in it's full glory," B D Press.

Another of the "live at heliport" recordings.

This track is about a fella who's found himself in a bit of financial trouble with the mob, on the run and desperately trying to buy his way back into their good graces. 

Inspired by the 2002 movie Gangs Of New York.

Tick Tock Boom - Live At Heliport Studios

This track was the first of Matts recordings, being the main single from the 2012 EP Don't Fear The Beard.
If you look back at the original version of LYW you'll hear a very different sound.
On the revised version, Matt employed the services of a $20 Urban Tones keyboard from a local Opportunity Store, in an attempt to breath a new texture into the song.
From a creative place of forced minimalism, where a maximum of 3 keys could be played simultaneously without the instrument plunging into distorted dissonance, a fresh addition of child like melodies came to the surface.

"The intention of the music on LYW was to sound something like what might be going on inside a finger painting toddlers head; a fun, naive daydream spell.

"I always loved the way Jimi Page would put an instrumental track in the middle of a Led Zep album, so I named this track similarly to 'Over The Hills and Far Away' as a kind of tribute."

FULL DESCRIPTION
This bad boy is a product of my frustration with the powers that be in this country, continuing to pull the wool over the eyes of it's people. They fill our ears and eyes with lies and deception through media control, 
whilst putting a strangle hold on minorities, 
sucking the life out of our precious natural environment squeezing every last drop for monetary gain, 
and brainwashing the population by feeding us Neurotoxins through the water supply.
The current system just doesn't work, it only serves the elite few, and if you disagree, well you are gravely mistaken my friend.
We, the majority, need to wake up and realize we are toads in the pot, and the water is slowly boiling, the time has come that we must stand as one and tell the powers that be, that, this current situation will not suffice and we demand radical change! 
My message is this; 
NEVER STOP QUESTIONING EVERYTHING! WE ALL HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY TO OUR LAND AND EACH OTHER! INFORM YOURSELVES! BUT MOST OF ALL, LOVE ONE AND OTHER! THE ENEMY IS NOT AMONGST US, ITS ABOVE US! 
REFUSE TO WEAR THE SHOES THEY TELL YOU TO WEAR!




Shoe Boycotter

In the Adelaide winter of 2016, after a 3 year musical journey on the road, Matt Stillert, reuniting with his band "Madclassic" (Tim Foster and Dave Phillips), has recorded his most refined studio work to date.
The hypnotic rhythm and sweeping melodies in K.I. Honey give a platform for an unsuspectingly powerful message:

"K.I. Honey is about unity, power in numbers and sticking it to the man, "the bitch took my money" is not about an ex girlfriend, the bitch is "the man", the oppressive powers that be, who are keeping us all financially enslaved in order to maintain their positions of power. This song is a call for unifying people to form a positive common goal, as long as there is division among people, our problems will only proliferate, IF WE WONT STAND UP WE CHOOSE TO LAY DOWN.
But from a lighter angle and at its heart, K.I. Honey is a celebration of the tribal love and healing power of musical harmony, with the video focusing on the shared experience of music bringing people together with a common goal of union and equatorial happiness. It's named after the Ligurian Honey Bees residing on Kangaroo Island that make some of the best honey in the world, and are known for their friendly nature.
I draw the analogy of the hive and the human tribe; we could take some wisdom from the co-operation of many lives for a higher purpose, and considering the bees on K.I. are posibly the last of their kind, the message extends to illuminate the precariousness of our global Human situation and add an air of desperation to save what's left and maintain an inhabitable earth with a peaceful future for life on the planet." - Matt Stillert

With the K.I. Honey tour set for October, November and December 2016, and finishing up at a major QLD festival over new years (to be announced) Matt will be playing shows from Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane, and all over Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, with broader touring plans for 2017.

The boycotter of the metaphorical shoe, poet, protester, and grower of veggies and facial hair, the smiley and the lovable, Matt Stillert, says he's just getting warmed up.
