Berlin-based label BITE run by Phase Fatale has been turning heads ever since its inception five years ago. Now BITE has put out over 25 releases, platforming emerging talents and well-established artists alike, all united by an ambition to push the boundaries of techno.

BITE’s output touches upon a wide range of styles along the moodier fringes of electronic dance music: from sparse industrial techno to wave and synthpunk and to the label’s pioneering italo body music. While BITE’s roster remains musically diverse, the imprint has cultivated a community around itself of those attracted by its aesthetic of global malaise and pursuit of romantic sensibility within the cold mechanics of the techno genre.

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from Andi + Machino. They joined forces and crafted off-the-cuff, dangerously degenerate darkly-driven dance tracks that conflates the tension of running EBM basslines with the monstrosity of electro-saturated, industrialized beats. 

'Parafernales', the debut release by the duo on Mannequin, is a conceptual EP that delves into the intricate dynamics of power struggles. Released this summer, the EP explores themes of love, lust, strength, destruction, dominance, and submission. Andi's vocals combine spoken word, whispers, and intense screams, capturing the manic experience of simultaneously possessing and losing control. The EP title, Parafernales, is a nod to Machino's first language of Spanish and stems from the idea of miscellany: it is parafernalia for drugs, or, simply, accessories for unsavory activities. With inspirations from turn-of-the-90s erotic thrillers to the Chilean post-punk band, Los Prisoneros, the duo collide in a manner that is unadulterated and, at times, completely unhinged.

META MOTO's inaugural digital release features renowned Lithuanian producer Shaknis and label head honcho Egzotikka—a dynamic duo making their mark with their second collaboration.

Shaknis, the master of electro vibes, is renowned for his unwavering dedication to analog sounds. His recent solo EP on Soil Records showcased his prowess in this realm. On the other hand, Egzotikka, a coldwave virtuoso and prolific songwriter, specialises in crafting captivating guitar-driven melodies using analog gear.

This EP, aptly titled "SIENA" (meaning "wall"), was meticulously crafted in the digital realm throughout 2023, as Shaknis and Egzotikka exchanged tracks and ideas remotely. The thematic core of "SIENA" is deeply entwined with the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, addressing themes of war, personal growth, unconventional love, and the allure of online shopping addiction through its powerful lyrics.

Impair Pierre is Léonard Lampion's new alias, created as an escape route from dark basements and the influence of club music. Since 2017, Impair Pierre has been writing songs in his office in Grenoble using synthesisers, guitar, and voice. Finding inspiration in the events of everyday life, he seeks to develop a form of minimalism.

Promenades de jour - this record developed from a desire to write songs that were relatively refined and spontaneous. It brings together experiments with the Yamaha PS-20 synth, songs imbued with a certain melancholy, and others with a more satirical bent. The record is a succession of photos, landscapes, and situations both real and imaginary, like a walk in the spring sun.

Impair Pierre est le nouvel alias de Léonard Lampion créé pour sortir des caves sombres et s’affranchir de l’influence du club. Impair Pierre écrit des chansons depuis son bureau de Grenoble depuis 2017 avec différents synthétiseurs, sa guitare et chante sur certains morceaux. L’inspiration lui vient du quotidien et il recherche une forme de minimalisme.

Promenades de jour - L’album naît de la volonté d’écrire des chansons, relativement épurées et spontanées. Il regroupe des expérimentations inspirées par le synthé yamaha PS-20, des chansons imprégnées d’un certaine mélancolie et d’autres plus satiriques. L’album est une succession de photos, paysages, situations vécues ou imaginées, comme une promenade sous le soleil de printemps.
