With their second single "Whatkeepsmewakingup”, the Swiss indie band Mono Mochi presents a clear antithesis to their previous road trip release “Wild Thyme”.

The anthem from their upcoming debut album “Oh Elsa!” (release on May 31, 2024) shows a humorous side and deals with life's stumbling blocks and absurd moments.
At first the new single leaves open the possibility of a calm, breathy ballad, but it quickly develops into an unstoppable groove reminiscent of King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.

“Whatkeepsmewakingup” is about aimless running, where you are no longer exactly sure why you are running and what you are actually escaping from.

The rocky, distorted character of the song forms a strong contrast to the other pieces on the record. The repetitive, almost crazy lines that juggle between dream and reality give the song a playful lightness that just doesn't want to calm down.

And when you finally stand at the gate of the long-awaited sleep, the huge hamster wheel rolls over you and drags you back into a surreal world of wants, needs and pure rush.
