 “Shake The Mind” encapsulates the sound of Clouded Vision Recordings, with a long awaited single from Matt Walsh, backed with a remix from Daniel Avery.

Alongside the Radio Edit, the title track is a 7-minute trip of late night acidic techno, with a nod to Matt’s new wave and EBM influences.  The double A-sided vinyl is completed with a pounding slice of atmospheric techno and the first new piece of music from Daniel Avery, since the release of his critically acclaimed album, “Drone Logic” last year.

Dan returns the remix-favour to close friend Matt after his version of “ Free Floating” appeared on the Drone Logic Remix album “ New Energy” earlier this year.

The first Clouded Vision Recordings release of 2017 comes from label owner Matt Walsh teaming up with Stratowerx AKA Sam Russo.  The EP is completed with a remix from one of Matt’s long-term studio partners, Scott Fraser, who makes a long awaited debut on the label.

The three tracks were recorded over the course of 2016, with the two producers sending parts back and forth via email and the result sees a clear middle ground of minimalistic analogue electro and techno.

Scott’s Surface Pressure Remix turns the first track “No Function” into a dark Drexciyan electro brooder, rounding off the EP very nicely indeed.

Bleeping Sauce is the new live band project from esteemed Minus and Items&Things duo CLICK BOX who have teamed up with the highly talented Eli Iwasa & Marcos Taga. Presented here is a new EP from them on Meant that showcases their dynamic sound, it comes with three original tracks and a set of tasty remixes by Remote, Matt Walsh and Villanova.
Brazilians Marco A.S and Pedro Turra have been on top of the techno and minimal worlds since 2006 thanks to their inventive and abstract sounds on only the finest labels. This new project shows they have another feather to their bow and sees them explore a sinewy, lovably machine made sound.
‘Sounds and Stories’ goes first and is a space-age bit of dark wave tech funk with layers of gurgling synths, stark drums and a cool female vocal that adds tons of punk attitude to proceedings. Ivan Smagghe or Andrew Weatherall would lap this sort of tune up with its gothic disco vibes. ‘Set Time’ is another great bit of dark and dirty disco with searching synths, apocalyptic atmospheres and purposeful, live sounding drums. It squeals and shoots in many different directions at once as a corrugated bassline ties the whole thing together. Then comes ‘Cherry Green’ with more aloof sounding female vocals, 80s dark wave drums and rubbery guitar lines. It’s a fine bit of work that sounds like little else out there and is beautifully sombre in mood.
First remixer Remote is a musical duo made up of Eric Guillanton and Seb Fouble, a pair recognized as one of the figureheads of the French electro scene. Their take on ‘Cherry Green’ is a filthy dirty, scuzzy and serrated synth laden slo-mo electro track that will send the ‘floor into raptures.
Next up is Matt Walsh, the Brit famed for being a unique sonic craftsmen who often DJs with Daniel Avery, is a Bugged Out regular and releases on Turbo and Phantasy Sound. His take on ‘Sounds and Stories’ is a moody late night affair with dazzling synth stabs, cooing female vocals and swathes of lovely echo and reverb that lend the track a hazy, dreamy air.
The young duet of Parisian producers that is Villanova, of labels like No.19 Music & My Favorite Robot, goes last with a remix of ‘Cherry Green’ that is turbo charged and tumultuous with big drums, spaceship like synths, bleepy melodies and generally manic robotic charm with an anthemic female vocal line up top.
With this release MEANT introduce the world to what is sure to be an essential new project from the Click Box boys.

Matt Walsh’s inter­est in DJing and pro­duc­tion was fos­tered in the late 1990′s, while he was at uni­ver­si­ty and pro­gres­sive house was at its peak. Fast-for­ward a cou­ple of years, a new decade her­ald­ed the birth of Elec­tro­clash and with it DJ Hell’s Gigo­lo Records, City Rock­ers and Play­house. As Matt began to devel­op his trade­mark sound of mod­ern dis­co-infused elec­tron­ic house and tech­no, an offer of a res­i­den­cy at East London’s sem­i­nal T‑Bar club set off a chain of events that would lead to Tur­bo Record­ings don Tiga spot­ting him there in 2007. He then became a long term res­i­dent of Bugged Out! and Tur­bo and has since toured the globe alone and with oth­er artists.

Matt’s record label, Cloud­ed Vision Record­ings has seen releas­es from tal­ent from all cor­ners, includ­ing Red Axes, long term friend Daniel Avery and many more. His two mixed com­pi­la­tions “The Cloud­ed Vision Exper­i­ment” received crit­i­cal acclaim from Mix­mag, GQ and DJ Mag. Expect a slew of new releas­es in 2025.

Since relo­cat­ing to Mar­gate in 2017, Matt has been busy opening The Tap Room and has trans­formed one of Margate’s secret spots into a boom­ing small bar, where you can expect to see local and trav­el­ling DJs play­ing every week, as well as a great mix of cock­tails and craft beer.

In 2023 Matt reignited his old clubnight "Movement" which was originally formed with Daniel Avery back in 2011. The new version is held quarterly at Faith In Strangers, Margate and the first three sold out parties have seen Erol Alkan, Daniel Avery and Richard Fearless join Matt on the decks for the night. December will welcome Optimo to Margate for the first time and some very exciting collaborations are to follow in 2025.

"Shake That!" is a song by German band Scooter.  Shake the Mind however is a far superior track by Matt Walsh. It is by all accounts a bit of a belter. 

Matt Walsh has been lurking in our ears for many a year now. We're massive fans of his consistently and increasingly excellent Clouded Vision label. So much so he was one of our early Label Love-ees. With this new release though we think he's really hit on something rather special. 

Mr Daniel Avery has turned in a remix on the flip of this double A-Side but our vote sits firmly in the Original camp on this one... good job he's been so kind as to premiere it really isn't it?

​About a year ago we had Clouded Vision boss Matt Walsh go In Session for us. What he delivered was an hour of wriggly and writhing techno cuts, with Locked Groove, Daniel Avery and Ripperton all included. 

The mix itself was in a similar vein to the Bugged Out! associate's own tracks and remixes, whether it's 2010's 'Honey Comb' on Wax:On Music or his rejig of Daniel Avery's 'Free Floating'.

Aside from flaunting his own distinct strain of electro laced percussive techno, Matt Walsh has a pretty unique outlook that we here at fabric HQ respect. His self-run label, Clouded Vision, has continuously been a projection of his sonic capabilities, releasing music by himself and artists that he genuinely feels excited about. And whilst Matt has been regularly praised for both his own productions and the output of the label, we ourselves feel a bit of an affinity with the former Bugged Out! Resident’s DJ sets, so we jumped at the chance to catch up and find out what he's been up to (hence the reason for this latest interview and mix).

Delivering a mix in promotion for his upcoming set in Room Two next month, the 60 minute blend and his answers to yet another bundle of our probing questions has not only given us some clarification of where he's at currently but it's also helping us get suitably amped up for the upcoming November event (13/11) where he’s joining the likes of Kölsch and his good friend, Daniel Avery here in EC1.

The First release of 2012 from the ever-growing Clouded Vision Recordings sees Belfast’s finest new house pioneer at the helm.

Bubba has released on more labels than most and is famed most recently for his tracks on Hot Creations, Extended Play and Hannah Holland’s “Batty Bass”.

When I first heard “We Need A Break” I knew it was a CV record.  It has the power and the groove to please any floor, but with that little indescribable extra that sets it apart from the ever- expanding musical universe of “safe hits”.  It is tried and tested to an incredible effect, with a breakdown that cuts a fine line over obnoxious and a bass line and vocal that will stay in your head for days to come.

Wanna Dance, Get Up will please the UK house heads and provides an excellent alternative for those without the guts to try and breach the borderline element of the A side.

It gets confused with blurred vision, but clouded vision cloudy is a completely different ailment altogether. 
Things appear ‘milky’ as if you’re looking through a cloudy piece of glass in one or both eyes. It also dulls perception of colours and cause you to see halos around lights, which can be beautiful but doesn't make it easy if you are driving or operating heavy machinery.
As well as this it is the mighty label run by Matt Walsh which has signed up the most explosive act from York since Guido Fawkes, Tecwaa. Cutting his teeth on Jo Howard's Sulk Magic label, Tecwaa, also known to some as Paul Fawcett has been creating waves in recent months.
His latest EP contains the track 'Always and the End', which has been lovingly recrafted by label head Matt Walsh who together build a dystopian piece of disco which digs deep with pads, live sounding drums and a vibe which is primed to warm dancefloors in the coming winter months.  Already getting the seal of approval from the 'Guvernor' Andrew Weatherall, it looks like Tecwaa's star is rising.
Go listen, buy and love it. Because it's the right thing to do!

In the early part of 2010, Phillipe sent me some tracks that were forthcoming on Get The Curse. “Top Drop” became one of my most played records of the year and was a firm favourite in the boxes of Michael Mayer, Ivan Smagghe, Kiki and Roman Roman Flügel (who also went on to remix it).When Phil sent me “Truckin” I jumped at the chance to include Darabi as the first act to be signed to Clouded Vision’s label.
Truckin combines the e-funk sound of 2010, with the a more typical French dark route commonly heard amongst the best Parisian labels such as Kill The DJ, Get The Curse and MEANT. The result is a track and set of remixes with great affect on so many of today’s floors.

Remixes firstly come from Krikor, who takes us on a heavy afro-beat journey, using his trademark kicks and huge production so commonly found on his releases on Tigersushi and KTDJ.The Love Supreme from Italy supplied me with two amazing mixes, one is included here and the second, a 10 minute disco epic, will be available as a promo download across the internet in the coming weeks.
Bozzwell is also known as one part of Hiem and produced one of my favorite albums this year, “Bits and Pieces” including the hit “In My Cocoon” which received rave reviews across the board.His mix is a deep, dubbed out affair with a killer bass line.Lastly comes the CV remix where Steve and myself have taken Truckin back to the early 90s with enough claps and congas to please someone out there who this pack hasn’t touched already.

Matt Walsh’s inter­est in DJing and pro­duc­tion was fos­tered in the late 1990′s, while he was at uni­ver­si­ty and pro­gres­sive house was at its peak. Fast-for­ward a cou­ple of years, a new decade her­ald­ed the birth of Elec­tro­clash and with it DJ Hell’s Gigo­lo Records, City Rock­ers and Play­house. As Matt began to devel­op his trade­mark sound of mod­ern dis­co-infused elec­tron­ic house and tech­no, an offer of a res­i­den­cy at East London’s sem­i­nal T‑Bar club set off a chain of events that would lead to Tur­bo Record­ings don Tiga spot­ting him there in 2007. He then became a long term res­i­dent of Bugged Out! and Tur­bo and has since toured the globe alone and with oth­er artists.

Matt’s record label, Cloud­ed Vision Record­ings has seen releas­es from tal­ent from all cor­ners, includ­ing Red Axes, long term friend Daniel Avery and many more. His two mixed com­pi­la­tions “The Cloud­ed Vision Exper­i­ment” received crit­i­cal acclaim from Mix­mag, GQ and DJ Mag.

Since relo­cat­ing to Mar­gate in 2017, Matt has been busy opening The Tap Room and has trans­formed one of Margate’s secret spots into a boom­ing small bar, where you can expect to see local and trav­el­ling DJs play­ing every week, as well as a great mix of cock­tails and craft beer.



In 2023 Matt reignited his old clubnight "Movement" which was originally formed with Daniel Avery back in 2011. The new version is held quarterly at Faith In Strangers, Margate and the first three sold out parties have seen Erol Alkan, Daniel Avery , Optimo and Richard Fearless join Matt on the decks for the night. August will welcome Manfredas to Margate for the first time and some very exciting collaborations are to follow in 2025.
