I've been messing around with combing some rap songs that I used to like with some of the electronic music that I like now. The new electronic production style of Jerry Folk gives a novel feel to an old classic by T-Pain and Akon.

Make A Drink (Mashup: Jerry Folk vs T-Pain & Akon)

Combining some of my favorite rap and contemporary R&B music with more modern electronic production and dance music, “EBB N FLOW” was heavily influenced by artists like Louis Futon and SNAKEHIPS who have been largely responsible for re-inspiring my interest in rap and R&B. It showcases some of my current favorite rappers like Chance and Logic while paying homage to some of my favorite 2000s artists like Kanye, Jay Z, Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, Nelly, and Justin Timberlake. My goal was to show the rap fans that there is great electronic music and show the EDM fans that there is still great rap/R&B!

Unforgettable

I wanted to create a mellow mix to listen to while doing low-energy exercises like stretching or yoga, and the result is this music composition I’m calling ‘clarity’. I challenged myself to arrange it such that all adjacent tracks are harmonically compatible which effectively blurs the distinction between each song and the next. The intro is meant to feel like you’re waking up in the morning, and the end feels like you’re falling back asleep or into a meditative state (or shavasana for all you yogis!). It reflects my mindset the past couple months while I’ve had the time to slow down and be a bit more mindful. I was inspired by artists like Shallou, Kasbo, Chelsea Cutler, Attom, Fakear, Petit Biscuit, Odesza, Above&Beyond, Jai Wolf, and also my friend deegs who has been my best music sharing buddy for years and makes his own incredible mixes too!

I hope this music mix brings you an hour of calm energy and wellbeing. 😊

In 2016 I discovered and fell in love with the music of Tom Misch and FKJ. Their unique vibe inspired me to create a mix, but I never quite finished it. 

Fast forward to 2020, I revisited the mix and finished it off with some of my newer musical interests including Galimatias, Alina Baraz, Gallant, Khalid and Honne. 

The mix flows through various soulful styles with a common theme: all the songs are expressions of love and romance. 

It’s more mellow than my other music mixes and perfect to set the atmosphere for a date night or dinner party. 

We could all use a little more romance in our lives… now more than ever! 🌹
