Words fail me with this show. I've seen Foy a number of times, generally in small venues, generally with a guitar and little else. This show, though. This show.

I've tried to put together a review, in the traditional sense. Can't do it. I've got a connection to Foy Vance's music that's so personal that I don't know if I even want to write about it. But I'll have a go.

The day my little girl was born, I walked (stumbled) towards home from Queen Charlotte's hospital in a fog. On my ipod I was playing Foy's first album Hope, and after seconds I was a sobbing mess. Since then, listening to any of Foy's songs is likely to send me back to that place. Above any of the singers and the songwriters that I love, there is a special place in my heart for this guy.

Friday's show was so special, and I hope the recording goes somewhere towards doing it justice (as if it ever could! As if it ever could!). I honestly feel it might have been my favourite live show yet.

I urge you, I BEG you to check out Foy's albums, and the various EPs. Go and see him live. Please. PLEASE.
