Detroit's Filthiest returns to Motor City Electro Company with the first of many new singles due to release. First up is Fatal Attraction, a sexy RnB vocal over a funky electro groove that sure to get the dance floor blazing.

Three years after their first collaboration, culminating in the release of “The Passenger”, Om Unit and Martyn are back on 3024 with another four track exploration of tempo and vibrations on a new EP called “AJ^6”.

The two ‘veteran’ producers have been highly prolific over the past years, with Om Unit making waves with his massive Acid Dub Studies project as well as new work under his Philip D. Kick alias, and Martyn spearheading and mentoring a robust group of new musicians responsible for no less than five (!) compilations on 3024. What brings the two producers together in the studio once again is the constant hunger for new and interesting sounds on the outer rim of the ‘bass continuum’. Instead of tirelessly rehashing old tropes they are continuously inspired to write new music that’s both current as well as firmly in their aesthetic profile.

‘Basilisk’ and ‘The Trenches’ are great examples of the duo blending odd tempos with dub wise heaviness. ‘Basilisk’ has already been doing some serious damage on the dance floor with its punchy 107 beat structure and headzy breakdown, while the almost imperial march of ‘The Trenches’ introduces a bubbly bass line. ‘Illroy’ and ‘Dragonfly’ both inhabit a dreamier, more melodic universe and have a timeless, ambivalent quality to them, somewhere between a lost b-side of an early 00s Hospital Records release and something on Scuffed. When a crowd is singing along with the last chorus after hearing the song for the first time, and Twitter lights up with those same lyrics in the days following a performance; you know it's a song that connects.  Poignant yet sing-along-able lyrics and undeniable rock noir musical undertones, Spirits, the first single from The Strumbellas, embodies the essence of what has been attracting fans from across North America to this Lindsay, Ontario bred band  

That journey has been a whirlwind since the release of the band’s 2012 debut album My Father And The Hunter. The Strumbellas' sound — haunting lyrics fused with infectious, danceable melodies — won them both fans and critical recognition. A year later, they followed up with We Still Move On Dance Floors, which earned the band six awards, including a JUNO and Sirius XM Indie Award, as well as a spot on the Polaris Music Prize Long List.  And of course, there’s been touring. Lots of touring.
 
In early 2015, the Strumbellas, off the road and ready to go into the studio again, set up shop at downtown Toronto’s Lincoln County Social Club to record the new album with LA Producer/Engineer, Dave Schiffman (Johnny Cash, Haim, Weezer).  During three recording sessions during the first half of 2015, Schiffman and the band harnessed a vivid sound that was itchin’ to get out of them.  Bigger.  Bolder. Beckoning.
