Now I almost finished the remastering of "Acid" and this will be the last single to be released from it. I decided to to something different here and release not an actual song but this short interlude. "Acid" contains a lot of such short musical pieces to link different parts of the album: three interludes, "Intro" and "Outro". "Interlude #2" is a good example, but not the typical one, as it is very different from the rest of the material. In contrast to the industrial sound and dynamic of "Acid" - this interlude is very ambient and relaxed, a small breath right in the middle of the record. It developed from my practice with "Absynth 4" synthesizer in August 2008, and was mostly recorded just by using this instrument.

I am not planning to release any further singles for my "Acid" remaster. The album is planned to be released in April 2021 through my bandcamp page https://nikolaymatveev.bandcamp.com .So please, feel free to follow it.

Interlude #2 (2021 Remaster)

Today I have finally released the remastered version of my 2009 album "Acid". Go here to listen to it in its entirety on my Bandcamp page https://nikolaymatveev.bandcamp.com. You can also subscribe to it in order to read the story of its recording.

To promote it, I have decided to release the self-titled track as an additional single. This composition is a sibling of "Zombies" - it was recorded during the same period of time in July 2008 and is using the same formula: fast beats, electronic bass and synth, and sampled voices from a movie. Nevertheless, I think that "Acid" has its own feel and in general is groovier and less metal than "Zombies".

Joker on the front cover, portrayed by Jack Nicholson in 1989 "Batman" movie by Tim Burton, is a reference to the sampled voice you can hear on this track. The monologue captured there is when Joker visited the mob boss of Gotham, right after he recovered from swimming in acid (and this in turn is a reference to the title of the track and the album 😄). 1989 "Batman" is one of my favorite movies and has always been a huge source of inspiration for me.

I've Passed My Winter Exams (2010)

Today is the 11th anniversary of "Acid" - my first record, which I self-released back in 2009.  it is crazy how fast time flew by! I remember starting working on the material, which ended up on this album, when I was still 17 years old. It is interesting now to look back at this period and hear what was inspiring me musically at that moment.
I want to celebrate this date with the release of the remastered version of "Zombies are Walking on the Streets". This one of the very first compositions I have recorded, and heavily inspired by such acts as Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, Static-X and variety of deathcore music, which was trending back then. Thematically it is referencing to one of my favorite British comedies "Shaun of the Dead" directed by Edgar Wright in 2004. You can hear samples from the movie on the track and see Dylan Moran pictured on this cover. 
My initial intention was to remaster the complete record, but for now only this track was finished. Maybe I can do the same for the rest of the material sometime later. Enjoy! 😄

Time for some more remastered material from "Acid". To this day "Love Drama" is my favorite composition from that record. As majority of the material for the album, it was written and recorded in summer 2008. It has a very simple but memorable A minor progression, stuffed with aggressive drums, which makes it sound sad and "dramatic" at the same time. The sampled voice - is Jennifer Love Hewitt from movie "If Only" (2004). There was no specific reason to sample this particular film. I remember I was just searching for something, which would match the mood and came across this movie. All samples are from the same scene, it is also captured on the cover here.

Love Drama (2021 Remaster)

As I am slowly revising my old material from "Acid", here is something newly remastered from it. This composition belongs to the later period of making the record comparing to the already published tracks. "Z-Factory" was composed and recorded in January 2009 and it can be easily heard how much it differs from "Zombies" and "Love Drama" in terms of sound and structure. It has more of a lo-fi sound and industrial feel. Drum machine and synths here were really inspired by the industrial music. At the same time you can hear some typical "core" music elements, like use of screaming and breakdowns. I remember having an idea of making a metal track with electronic sounds instead of heavy guitars and here is the result. "Z-Factory" as many later compositions was not something I initially planned for the album, but as the time passed I was realizing that I want to do something different and try new things. Front cover is from the photo-shoot made by my sister Maria Shishkina in October 2009, specifically for "Acid" artwork. This particular picture did not find its place anywhere on a CD booklet back in 2009, but finally ended up being used for this single.
