Mat Zo is one of Anjunabeats’ most celebrated artists, with tracks such as 'Easy' (with Porter Robinson), 'Rebound' (with ARTY), 'The Sky' and 'Superman' capturing the imagination of the masses. His GRAMMY-nominated debut album, ‘Damage Control’, released in 2013, gave Mat’s avant-garde approach to production its full expression. Featuring break-out hit ‘Easy’, the track took Mat mainstream: a Radio 1 A-List addition, Sirius XM BPM listing, a #1 Billboard Heatseeking record, an Essential Mix of the year nomination and, ultimately, a GRAMMY nomination for best dance and electronic recording. 

His latest studio album, ‘Illusion of Depth’, was released on the label in October 2020. The album produced singles 'The Next Chapter', 'Problems' and 'Colours'; the latter of which has garnered over eight million streams, 150k YouTube views, hundreds of national radio play-outs and was placed in the soundtrack for the 2021 racing video game Forza Horizon 5.

2022 has been a productive year for Mat. Riding the 'Illusion of Depth' wave, Mat collaborated with Above & Beyond on the warehouse techno-infused single 'Always Do', released in March. Remarkably, 'Always Do' was the first time the two acts had officially collaborated. However, they have creatively crossed paths: a decade prior, Mat remixed A&B and Richard Bedford’s ‘Thing Called Love’.

A formidable live performer, Mat joined us at our label showcases in London, Miami and New York, plus Above & Beyond's Group Therapy Weekender festivals at The Gorge Amphitheatre and Dockyards London. A busy summer of touring culminated in a frenzied performance at A&B's sold-out Group Therapy 500 celebrations at Banc of California Stadium, Los Angeles.

In a surprise end-of-year treat for fans, Mat has returned with his first solo production on Anjunabeats in over two years. 'Astatine' is another explosive addition to his catalogue, ahead of more new music arriving on the label in 2023.

"Astatine came about while experimenting with bass sounds. What ended up happening was the whole meat of the track came from one synth patch at a time. The bass, harmonics and lead sounds all come from the same MIDI note playing through one instance of my favourite soft synth." - Mat Zo

As Deadmau5 embarks upon the Meowingtons Hax North American tour alongside a host of the Mau5trap stable, the label head leads the charge with a brand new compilation. It features new and exclusive tracks from Deadmau5 himself and a host of the artists featuring on the tour, as well as a selection of tracks from new additions to the label that you can expect to hear a lot more from in the coming months. With contributions from Feed Me, Tommy Lee & Aero, Excision & Datsik, Zedd, Moguai, Al Bizzare and James Njie, this compilation is set to be the soundtrack to the tour carnage that will undoubtedly ensue. Opening with the insistent, driving powerhouse that is Where My Keys, an exclusive track from Deadmau5 himself, the ghcompilation goes straight for the jugular. Excision & Datsik turn up the heat with Deviance as grinding beats and growling basslines meet extra-terrestrial synth lines, proving once again why their star is most definitely in the ascendant. Zedds remix of Skrillex smash Scary Monsters & Nice Sprites channels the power of the original into a filthy 4x4 monster while Moguais Beat of The Drum surges forward on the elastic synths and rolling bass line with Sofi delivering her vocals with attitude.Upcoming Mau5trap artists Al Bizzare and James Njie also feature on the compilation. Al Bizzare brings Blast Wave to the table, a many-headed beast that switches up glistening synths and swelling bass and is in turns both euphoric and gritty. Rising talent James Njie rounds off the compilation in style, introducing himself with two futuristic progressive house tracks that are at once delicately nuanced and full of impact, speaking volumes of his talent. i know most of you guys heard a preview of this a long time ago when i started this tune with the underground-dog and really talented Shivaji​. 

and i saw you guys want this tune. i saw how this first drop made you guys feel the same as it made me feel.

so short said after that i really didnt know how to continue from there. i had a complete writersblock on it. 

after months (fuck its been like almost a year!) of thinking what to do with it it turned out to be an experimental adventure with different techniques genres and different styles than i usually work with. 

i even produced parts of it in a different DAW (yes i work with ableton now) 

so eitherways i know you guys wont smash me for trying something new. i feel like you guys are like the best and most accepting fanbase. Im really happy for all the support you guys give me i can never say this enough. i dont take anything for granted. <3
