You were my best fucking friend as well as my little brother. The love I have for you is enduring, and I’ve never had a bond with anyone like I did with you. The mark you made on me will be with me until after forever. 

You shaped me not only in terms of who I am, but you also deeply impacted my taste in and appreciation for music. There's no more fitting name than "Mauja" as an acronym of both our initials.

In the shadowed annals of European history, vendettas were relentless cycles of retribution. In medieval and renaissance Italy, feuding families like the Montagues and Capulets turned personal slights into blood soaked legacies. These grudges, rooted in honour and vengeance, simmered across generations and cast a dark legacy through an unyielding pursuit of justice.

East vs. West EP 01. Mauja - Vendetta

Fudōshin (不動心) is a Japanese term often translated as “immovable mind” or “unshakable heart.” It describes a state of mental calm, clarity, and resilience that cannot be disturbed by fear, doubt, distraction, or emotional turbulence. It comes from Zen Buddhism and the martial arts tradition, where Fudōshin is the mental state of a warrior who remains composed under pressure. Even in the heat of combat or crisis, the practitioner does not panic, hesitate, or let emotion cloud judgment. Instead, they act decisively with full presence and awareness.

Greed is an insatiable craving for more, beyond what is necessary or reasonable. It’s a restless hunger that distorts priorities. Greed manifests as an endless pursuit, where satisfaction remains just out of reach, fueling a cycle of desire. It’s not just about accumulation, but rather the compulsion to possess at the expense of others, often blinding individuals to consequences or diminishing their sense of enough. At its core, greed is a void, masquerading as ambition, that consumes without fulfilling.

Frost is a crystalline veil of ice, delicate yet piercing, that cloaks the world in a shimmering hush. It creeps across landscapes, transforming grass blades, leaves, and stone into fragile, glittering sculptures under the cold breath of winter. Its touch is both beautiful and merciless, a quiet force that stills life, preserving it in a frozen moment while sapping warmth and vitality. Nordic legends speak of frost as woven into the primal fabric of existence as both a creator and a harbinger, shaping the rugged beauty of the world while carrying the weight of its inevitable end. It is revered and feared, a silent deity of endurance and transience.

East vs. West EP 04. Mauja - Timeless Frost

Afghanistan’s diverse ethnic groups united by a fierce sense of autonomy and resistance to outsiders have consistently defied centralised control, resisting and outlasting many foreign powers throughout history. Deep rooted tribal loyalties coupled with a martial spirit make prolonged occupation unsustainable, as foreign powers face relentless insurgency and local hostility. The term "Graveyard of Empires" captures this pattern, whereby invaders enter with grand ambitions, but the land’s unforgiving geography, resilient people and cultural complexity erode strength, leaving empires humbled or broken.

East vs. West EP 05. Mauja - Graveyard of Empires

A methodical battle is not defined by chaos or rage, but by precision, rhythm, and deliberate control. Every movement is calculated, each strike part of a larger pattern. In short, a systematic approach to armed conflict that prioritizes control, tempo, and attrition of the enemy over brute force. In other words, methodical battle treats combat as an engineered process. A methodical battle approach might include movement in short and mutually supporting increments, coordination of artillery strikes with manoeuvre windows and shifting fire to protect advances, rapidly clearing corridors from obstacles to allow movement and the use of a mobile reserve for exploitation.

The three sections in this track are representative of the tactical, operational and strategic levels towards which an approach like methodical battle might be employed. Tactics being the art of winning battles, operations being the art of winning campaigns and strategy the art of winning wars.

Mauja - Methodical Battle

Mahadeva Rising is a musical description of a story from Indian mythology  where Mahadeva's wrath burns Vishnu’s form.

When Daksha insults Mahadeva (Shiva) by refusing to invite him to a great sacrifice, Shiva’s consort self immolates in grief. Enraged, Shiva tears out a lock of his hair and creates a terrifying warrior who storms Daksha's ritual and destroys everything.

Vishnu intervenes to restore order, and a tremendous battle ensues. The warrior, empowered by Shiva’s fury, overpowers Vishnu striking him down and making him fade into the light.

Mauja - Mahadeva Rising

Mauja presents his first offering for 2026, the Scorned EP. A haunting voyage into the depths of the dubstep genre, this release is an intensely personal statement, dark and moody through to moments that are abrasive or even hostile. A place where meticulous sound design, hypnotic rhythms, and brooding textures take center stage. Stripped of excess, this EP channels raw emotion through dissonance that lingers like storm clouds.

At its core runs a subtle yet powerful feminine thread, weaving through explorations of hypocrisy, loss, lies and allegations, anger, and unyielding resilience. A cathartic confrontation with scorn turned inward and outward, and vulnerability forged into a shield. Echoing the desolate, apocalyptic mood of the cover art, this EP immerses the listener in isolation, fury, and quiet strength. Showcasing dubstep at its most introspective and visceral, engaging fully demands headphones and darkness for proper impact.
