i feel like it takes a lot to admit when you're going through it–when love makes you go through it. when Burna says "feelings been dey swing like jangalova" i felt that. so i thought it was necessary to stretch that out in this reimagining of the hit song, "Last Last." there's more i could say, but i feel like i say enough–especially in the intro. i'll say one thing though–if you've never had one of them nights at Bolivar's and been visited by ghosts of lovers past...well...you've lived ohh...but there's levels to this.

i remember Rema's Bollywood allegations—and how he didn't care to beat them haha. i got the idea to let Indian musicality inspire this reimagination and...i guess carry some of that through in Bloody's verse. an avid listener of songs from Bollywood movies myself, this was a really fun one. we're going to have to do more of these! they naturally sound like mantras. so i guess "send me the funds" is a mantra for the nomads–especially if you love Mzansi.

i couldn't stop playing this song when it came out in college. wicked collab. spiritual. "bad energy stay far away" is a mantra. i wanted to make something that felt like a freestyle, but just loose and free melodically....a loosestyle? something to bop to–but with eyes closed. like a playful-prayerful.

it's a very unique city—LA. from the palm trees that aren't native, to the transplants that give the city a bad rep. i heard the original song before i ever visited LA, or moved for film school. i can say one thing for sure, if you've fallen in love in LA, it's a special kind of magic—no matter for how long. i wanted to make something that sounded like grateful grieving.

when I first played the original "do anything" for folks, they said they wanted to hear drums. that was 2023. it's crazy what you can make from revisiting old projects. makes you wonder why we bother hesitating with releases. you can always go back if you feel pulled to.

i think the balance between perfectionism and aspiration has never been this thin and yet this fine. i think i'm figuring it out.

i'm hoping this is something we can groove to. cliché word but yeah...something we can vibe to.

I’m a producer, singer-songwriter, but always a fan of music first. Influences are a wide variety. I make these reimaginings of original songs as a way to give some of my favorite songs (songs that have made me feel deeply or dance joyfully) a second life of sorts (and sometimes a third and fourth (yes, sometimes I make covers of covers)

Growing up in Nigeria in the era of Styl Plus, P-Square, Timaya while listening to Avril Lavigne, The Script, Daughtry, Owl City…then discovering Bollywood and falling in love with the soundtracks of K3G, KKHH etc. Then going back and forth from leaning into EDM to leaning towards Afro pop in my production and RnB and Folk in my songwriting and melody work. It’s…a mix of things. And there’s more music I’m discovering that I’m weaving back into my craft. 

I’m working on an EP about the state of the world, what we’ve lost…what we could remember from the past, to shout/dance into the void that is the future.

I produce music on Logic Pro X. I record in whatever bedroom I can find, and I mix and master my stuff right now. It’s…a lot of work but it takes years to master any craft and I’m becoming more and more okay with that.
