Mareas is an ode to the fusion of cultures, with 5 musicians from 5 different countries: Chile, Brazil, Spain, France and Nepal. This fascinating mix creates a unique sound, blending instruments as diverse as the Indian tabla, the Flamenco cajón, the Spanish guitar, the Hang Drum, the saxophone, the electroacoustic guitar or the Bansuri (a bamboo flute from Nepal). 

Every concert follows certain guidelines while also being made unique by the gift for improvisation that all these musicians share. In each piece there are touches of Flamenco, Jazz, Bossa nova, Indian music, Chill Out… The line-up and the repertoire can be adapted to each venue, from a relaxing Chill Out in the background to a concert in a festival or in an auditorium: we can enliven any event or atmosphere. We also have the option of adding a female singer to give our sound a different hue.

Mareas es un canto a la fusión entre culturas que reúne a 5 músicos de 5 países: Chile, Brasil, España, Francia y Nepal. Esta interesante mezcla crea una sonoridad única que mezcla instrumentos tan diversos como la tabla India, la Guitarra Española y electroacústica, el Hang Drum o el bansuri (Flauta de bambú originaria del Nepal).

Cada concierto sigue unas pautas pero a su vez es único debido a la capacidad de improvisación de cada uno de los músicos. En cada tema hay pinceladas de flamenco, Bossa Nova, música India, Chill Out, Jazz…. La formación es adaptable a cada tipo de evento, pudiendo variar el repertorio dependiendo del público: Desde una sesión más tranquila tipo Chill Out fusión de música de fondo hasta un concierto en un festival o auditorio, pudiendo amenizar cualquier tipo de evento o lugar. Cabe la posibilidad de añadir una cantante para darle una sonoridad diferente.

Internationally-acclaimed for his Western interpretations of northern India's classical music, Stevin McNamara offers you this entrancing journey called Prana Groove. His signature acoustic stylings flow freely on a current of meditative percussion. A great addition to your yoga or bodywork playlist!

Prana = the Sanskrit word for basic primal vital energy which sustains and energizes the body. It moves through the breath.
Groove = rhythmic patterns which motivate the body to move.

The melodic element of Prana Groove is based on Rag Malkauns – a profound raga which is to be played late at night (usually midnight) – based on a pentatonic (5 note) scale. The large intervals between the notes create an intense emotional effect on the listener.

The tempo is 108 beats per minute, chosen for it's sacred Sanskrit value and effect. There are 108 different yet interwoven musical phrases presented throughout the piece.

"I created this music as an adventure into the realm of energy and movement," Stevin McNamara explains. "I used the ancient musical form of raga coupled with pulse and drum patterns found in trance and other traditions, such as Sufi Dervish ecstatic dance. I offer it as a celebration of life, of our connection to the earth and all living beings."
