Retro, the fifth track of the album, is a bass-heavy cross of electro and IDM, with a heavy focus on realistic percussive elements, produced using primarily physical modelling synthesis.

Berlin based Irish producer Maurice Anthony Moran is one interested in the technical side of music production, and how we utilize modern day technologies. 
Having had a long standing interest in music from a young age, Maurice was never consciously aware that it is something he would want to do. However Maurice emerged from a dark period of his life, purely through his discovery of his musical ambition. 
While at the start of his journey Maurice had a keen interest in DJing, he now is more interested in the art of production and live performance.
Currently studying a bachelors degree at Catalyst Berlin, Maurice has unlocked new conceptual doors within his mind, with a strong emphasis around technology and how it can be used to further develop electronic music.

For his first major project, Maurice has developed his album ‘Life after Roland’, 7 tracks that aim to highlight and tackle genre conventions in electro, specifically the use of vintage drum machines such as the Roland TR-808.
In the creation of the album Maurice wanted to explore a wide variety of different styles within the drums and composition of the music, while creating overall continuity. To highlight the deep exploration, he chose to pick a handful of less orthodox ways of making drums.
The most consistently used method throughout the album is the design of a basic set of drum sounds within Max/MSP, while physical modelling synthesis also features among others.

To accompany the release, Maurice chose to carry out 2 public displays, a live set of the album and an interview with an established artist within the scene, Volruptus.
The interview aims to open up to viewers on the workflow of Volruptus, while also gauging his opinion on topics Maurice is aiming to address, from a technical and a conceptual standpoint.

The live set is a display of how each track ties together one by one, while also using technologies such as OSC to make audio reactive gestures within the music from Maurice’s phone sensors.
The emphasis of the performance is within drums, and all elements within the stream will be reactive to the drums, from text to visuals.

The album is to be self released on Bandcamp on the 24th of May 2021, and will begin a stagnated premiering from the 13th of May.
Going forward Maurice aims to continue this project in the design of a software drum machine for people to utilize in the same easily accessible way as the Roland TR-808 is available.

Today we premiere a track that takes on electro from a new perspective, from the brand new 7 track album 'Life After Roland' from Irish producer, Maurice Anthony Moran.

Berlin based Irish producer Maurice Anthony Moran is someone who is passionate about the super technical side of music production, and how it fits in with modern day technologies. 

Having had a long standing interest in music from a young age, he went on to find solace in producing where it played a huge role in supporting him through a tough period of his life. This inspired him to follow his musical ambition to where we see it shine today. 

Like many electronic artists, his interest began with collecting music and DJing, but he soon gravitated toward the art of production and live performance. He is currently studying a Bachelors degree in Catalyst Berlin, which has opened him up to new concepts and possibilities within the realm of the audio world, with a strong emphasis on technology and how it can be used to further develop electronic music.

For his first major project, Maurice has developed his album entitled ‘Life After Roland’, which boasts 7 tracks that aim to highlight and tackle genre conventions in electro, specifically the use of vintage drum machines such as the Roland TR-808. To highlight the concept, he chose a handful of less traditional ways of making drums and explored a variety of different styles within the composition of the music, while creating overall continuity.

We premiere the last track from the album entitled 'Evolve' which is a fast paced electro track with elements of breaks and a mixture of gritty synths interspersed with atmospheric breakdowns.

Irish born Maurice Anthony Moran is a Berlin-based artist captivated in the sound of electro and anything in between, from techno to breaks to IDM. Influences to Maurice’s sound pallet go back as far as Kraftwerk but most notably from Detroit electro kingpins Drexciya. Maurice started DJing in 2016 at Bray Institute of Further Education on the DJ techniques and music production course taught by Sunil Sharpe. During this time Maurice developed his skills as a DJ and began the learning process for production. Over the years Maurice had the privilege to play alongside the likes of Alienata, AIROD, The Exaltics, Radial and Umwelt, while playing the closing set for Fuinneamh festival in 2017. In order to expand his artistic reach, Maurice chose to wield 3 aliases. His main artistic identity is Maurice Anthony Moran but he has two accompanying aliases, Patient 808 and Trans-Neptunian Orbit. Patient 808 is a concept piece based in a post-apocalyptic world annihilated by an airborne virus, with fast-paced dark electro and techno the main focal point. For Maurice’s concepts based around space and time, he uses the alias Trans-Neptunian Orbit. The sound pallet includes fast-paced electro breaks with glitchy sound effects accompanied by acid basslines and soul drenching harmonies. Anything outside these sound brackets is released under Maurice's main musical identity, Maurice Anthony Moran.

Previously established as an event and podcast series based in Dublin, Yin Yang signifies its next step with a vibrant compilation of tracks which touch on dark undertones of techno right through to brighter mutations of DnB, hard-hitting jungle, futuristic electro and beyond. This EP is a concept expressing the emotions felt when frantically searching through space for new human life forms. “Journey To The Unknown” & “Warp Speed” perfectly capture the excitement of the unknown. The third and final track “No Sign of Life'', is an atmospheric & melancholic trip that conveys the emotions of finding no more than barren wastelands on the “Journey to the Unknown”.
