A series of funerary songs and chants; field recordings and commentary from Palestine and El Nakba, nubian folk, Peruvian Inca, Yunnan and Guizhou songs, Egyptian resistance classics, the harp of david in ethiopia, japanese Koto songs, and chants from the roof of the world. The mix ends with the work of ethnomusicologist filmmaker Carlos Casas documenting the Pamir region: The dargilik songs are an ancient form of Badakhshan lullabies, expressing nostalgic complaints against destiny and injustice of heaven and destiny, longing for distant places, longing for a beloved, sorrow of the mother separated from her daughter, and beyond.
