Antagonist

Hailing from Manchester this shaman has had a keen interest in music since being a teenager. Having started out Djing through pirate radio at the back end of the cassette tape era in late 2004 and progressing into the club circuit around 2009. Antagonist has been building a journey for years, experimenting with various genres of music until finally setting the concrete down with the darker and cinematic side of drum&bass & electronic music. 

With a growing number of releases on R&S RECORDS, Samurai Music, and his own imprint Discipline plus a selection of other known labels, Antagonist continues his own vision of D&B and broken beats. Keeping the textures otherworldly and ethereal with an emphasis on atmospherics and grooves.

Introducing Kazbo, a Drum and Bass production duo hailing from Cologne, Germany, whose roots run deep in the 90s Jungle and DNB movement as record collectors, DJs, promoters and obsessive followers of what they consider their musical calling.

Their sound, best described as deep DNB with jungle and old-school influences is a masterful blend of contemporary synth sounds, Sub-bass and Amen-breaks, creating a rolling, authentic texture.

Over Christmas 2014 I needed a break from recording
my album, searching online for a song I recalled from
my youth, I fell into a rabbit hole of thousands of
YouTube playlists and posts, rediscovering the songs
my friends and I would gather and listen to as
13 & 14 yr olds every Saturday in East Berlin on Radio DT64
(now Berlin's Radio Fritz).

I stumbled back to the future, collecting over 5000 songs
on YouTube, learning for the first time the artists behind
the songs we heard almost 25 years ago.

The forthcoming trilogy is the result of 18 month
of building edits from YouTube recordings and stitching
them together off-line. I could not include every song,
nor indeed even the entire tracks from this small period
until 1993, so this is my personal history of electronic
music arriving in Berlin.

This trilogy will not be sold, it was a labor of love,
born of nostalgia and made for sharing.
