Originally I was meant to play on Friday the 13th just as the Moon entered Scorpio heading for her Newness that Sunday....but then it rained so my set was moved to the New Moon. Naturally. Cosmic alignment doesn't ever seem to escape me. Truth be told that is the same for most people only most times, without their awareness. The original set was going to focus much more on female empowerment as the narrative behind 'Friday the 13th' is nothing but the patriarchal suppression of the feminine. Friday comes from 'day of Frigg', the Norse Goddess of love and fertility aka Venus where the Latin for Friday Viernes comes from. And 13 represents the other feminine 'planet' of the zodiac, The Moon. As there are 13 Lunar cycles every Solar year. Yup. The day that represents our internal/external Mother (Moon) and Lover (Venus) are feared as the unluckiest.... blaaaah blah blah So glad all these no longer serving humanity paradigms are coming crashing down and the sacred feminine is grand rising!

Scorpio represents overcoming fear and stepping into one's power, so felt suiting to go with this title anyway. To overcome fear we usually need to let go of thoughts, beliefs and actions that are not serving us. And by doing so make much more space of the divine. The true source of our power. This is the Scorpio higher state of consciousness, the sign of witches and wizards turned high priestesses and modern day shamans. Daring to dive into the unknown and face the devil, within and without, for the highest good of all. 

Playing on the New Moon instead gave me more freedom to explore what Scorpio feels and sounds I wanted to play with, unedited letting what was coming out to come out. My Mars (drive, action, assertion) is in Scorpio so I couldn't help but gravitate to its more sexy expression...one that is so readily found in music after all. Sex and Union. Particularly the sort that involves vulnerability is very much Scorpio and planetary 'ruler' Pluto's domain. That chance to face the sin of avoidance and disconnection. The more we surrender and let go the deeper we connect and more ecstasy we can feel. But without a deeper layer of meaning any ecstasy can become hypnotic like a drug and this too is but another invitation to shed skin, burn up and rise again like a phoenix. Scorpio represents psychological projection and transformation and I'm certain most of today's therapists have this as a dominant energy in their charts. Looking back (I'm writing this 6 months since playing this set) there are some interesting parallels for my own personal deep dive to reflect on. 

Emotional, seductive, sexy, haunting, fierce, deep, intense, dramatic….oh yes.

Friday The Scorpio 13th | New Moon

As a Solstice child, which now happens to be a very celebrated day, I naturally wanted to do something meaningful for it. Gathering a group of 12 women, we sat in circle, shared, chanted, ate and then ecstatically danced...I want to say the night away but really it was more like 10pm to stay in line with the curfew, hence the shorter set (obeying the curfew on my birthday?! Must be getting older...). The Moon was in Pisces and the Saturn Jupiter conjunction in Aquarius exact; initiating our official entry into the New Age. Leaving the Age of Pisces behind. Leaving the shadowy glitz and glamour of egoic delusions behind and welcoming a renewed vision for life based on collective good and progressive sense of humanity instead. There is a feeling of saying goodbye in this set as well as the acceptance and celebration of heightened sense of euphoria which Pisces is known for. Looking back. Seems funny to think I almost fell victim to my own ego's defenses and negative narratives. The 3 days before my birthday were some of the hardest days I've had in a long time, literally felt like this ever important conjunction was forcing me through a birth canal, stripping off a lot of aspects of my identity. Forcing me to really think about how to live even more in alignment with the ideals I value and help me be of greater service in this time of monumental shift. Cancelling because my emotions (Water / Pisces ) were all over was not an option. Stepping into logic and the value and importance of community building (Air / Aquarius) was definitely the way to go. When shit was hitting the fan I knew deep down something really beautiful was waiting for me on the other end....this trust and surrender is the evolved expression of the Piscean lessons. Feeling grateful knowing My Solstice was the double rainbow I was hoping for after all. Enjoy!

My Solstice, Oh Solstice | 21.12.20

Longing, nostalgia, otherworldliness, cross genre timelessness, daydreams, romance, fantasy, euphoria...All but an ultimate craving to go back 'home'. Pisces is the very last sign of the Zodiac. The end of the soul's journey and it’s transcendence to other realms. 

The return to oneness.

This was 6 months since I played my first set on the Pisces Full Moon last September. Yeeeeeey. This New Moon set was a silent disco one. Big fan of the magic headphones bring in creating a deeper more personal journey...very much looking forward to doing many more. This time I was fully committed to exploring the ecstatic dance phases as clearly as possible and overall, am super happy with the milestone result. First time I had joy tears on my dance floor too. How appropriate for Pisces. Enjoy!

Dreams of Neptune | Pisces New Moon

A big part of my musical listening took place in London's nightclubs. Fabric is the one I would say probably exposed me to the most. So when it came to the first invitation to play for a friends birthday I knew this was the moment to distill what those years imprinted on me and begin to define a personal style that represented some of that life chapter. 

1500 accumulated tracks later, I had 20 that made the cut.

Libra is the 7th sign of the zodiac. Located right opposite the 1st sign of Aries. Full Moon is always the dance of a polarity as Sun and Moon are 180 degrees away from each other doing their best to balance themselves and unite in harmony. Aries is about 'The Self' and Libra is about 'US'...you can see where the need for compromise comes in right? Libra represents our partners and our desire to partner, be that romantic, platonic or work related. The set is predominately more masculine independent yang staccato Aries vibe (like all of techno for example) with some doses of feminine touches and airy vocals that Venusian Libra likes (one most likely to be found listening to lyrical love songs). However, what's actually brought this set into existence are a number of human relationships I feel to honor for helping me define my identity and push me on my path. Not all of course, but some key ones...

The darling 'Laulita' for inviting me and encouraging me to play

My...definitely some form of a karmic teacher for persistently holding my hand through the selection process, for producing the second track of this set and most importantly hosting this now infamous celebration.

And lastly, a dear friend who just so happens was born during a Libra moon and got an extra-long feature on this set for planting ecstatic dance seeds in my heart long before I first made it to a conscious dance floor. That and the very passionate desire to make people dance more than I already did...

Playing this set for SkirtClub was soo good! Grateful we live in a time where women can have the freedom to explore themselves in a safe and contained way. Grateful for the perfectly organised experience providing a sweet platform for curious play and new forms of connection, for women only. 

And as a female DJ to play all the sexy fun tracks to heat up the mood...really did feel like an honour...never mind the activation of my very own curiosity too

THAT's IT

Each full moon is an honouring of a polarity and a chance in collapsing it. An archetypal dance of opposites intended to relate in as interdependent way as possible. Waking up in all of us the themes they represent and highlighting the ways in which we may be leaning more to one side or the other. In this case the Sun, our conscious awareness, in Mar's warrior sign of Aries and the Moon in Venusian Libra, our emotional desire for peace and love. 

Standing in our power, inviting our inner fighter to the highest principles of love of self and the other and setting the goal that our self limiting patterns bite the dust once and for all. 

That's one powerful intention to dance with.
