Way down low where the sun don't shine
A thousand days deep into losing my mind
Every mirror a stranger,  each day sinking slow
My heartbeat is gone, where in the world did it go

At the edge, where there’s nowhere left to fall
When the silence grows loud, and there’s no one to call
Fading ember in the dark, a pulse that's still on the mend
They say survival instincts kick in when it's almost the end

I've stared down a barrel and thought about it twice
It would be so easy, wouldn't it be nice
But down at rock bottom, you can't dig any more
Only place left to go is up, no stone unturned just to be sure

Years taken by betrayal, left a big blood stain
How that happened I cannot ascertain
But there’s a whisper in the back of my head
Telling me there’s more, the path is lit, back from the edge

I’ll pull myself together,  live to see another day
I’m ready to try, maybe I can go all the way
It’s a climb to be better, but I’ll open my eyes
On all the reasons worth it to try and rise

At the edge, where the drop is final and dark
Walk this lonely road right back to the start
Rebuild what I lost,  each stone laid by hand
take care of my heart, and make some footsteps in the sand

The journey’s uphill, but there’s light in the climb
I’ll push through the darkness, one step at a time
I’m making my way, I’m coming alive
No more hiding, no more life passing me by

There’s a pulse in my veins, a rhythm I lost
A map to the future, so dear is the cost
Pull myself up by my bootstraps, what else can I do
The path to myself seems to be the one to choose

I’ll lace up my boots, leave the past where it is
Honor every struggle, every dark place I’ve been
It's a steep hard climb, but I’m finding the way
A new life on the other side, I think I will stay

Re-learning how to live, each moment each breath
Picking up the pieces, walking from the edge of death
Dreams in my pocket, a compass so near
Time moves in one direction, no more hiding in fear

At the edge, I found a reason to find
A way out of the dark, a place in the light
I’ll rise with the dawn, I'm down for the ride
Of turning the tides, and fighting the good fight

I'm getting out of bed, for the first time in days
Take a shower, do my makeup, catch some outside sun rays
Nobody teaches you how to survive a death of all that you were
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, take it as a lesson learned

So here’s to the climb, the spark that remains
The moments of strength through struggle and pain
I’ll chase down the future, rebuild what I lost
And get back to myself, no matter the cost
